Great price, and only a short stroll to town (10mins). 

There was a rooster (who woke up at 5am) right out the back of our room, but that's part of the fun of staying in Vanuatu. You'll be pretty hardpressed to find anywhere free of roosters, go to sleep when it gets dark, get up when the natural alarm clock wakes you :)

Walking distance to town

This guesthouse is an amazing place: clean, small and cosy, comfortable and visited by locals AND by travellers. The rooms are nice, there is a communal kitchen and a huge seating area. A nice garden and the great room rates add up to a perfect stay: Normally the price for a double room with shared bathroom is 2500 VT which is great for itself but when we said that we want to stay a week or longer the manger Suzie immediately offered us 1800VT/night as a weekly rate. On our arrival we had a great surprise: we were upgraded to an ensuite double bedroom for the same price of 1800 VT/night although the normal price for the ensuite double room is 3500 VT/night! 
I can only recommend that place and even if it's hard to find it's well worth the search!
Just a hint: coming from the airport or generally taking a bus just ask the bus driver to take you to Wai Melmelo Guesthouse in Freshwater and normally they now where it is and will drop you off at the door step for 150VT (normal bus fare from airport to anywhere in Vila or around town). The walk to town is only 15 minutes so once you know where the guesthouse is you can easily walk to town ;-)

Great value for money!

When I was there they just installed Wifi and it was workung.
It's a guest house with a dorm in walking distance of the center of port vila.

The guest house is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Check there webpages for special offers. They're only valid when booked online.

Good price now with wifi

We stayed in Wai Melmelo for 3 nights we spent in Port Vila. Its actually a bit further from the town center than we expected (20 min walk), and some of the facilities listed dont exist or work (Wifi, laudry).
But its clean, quiet, friendly and the family is really sweet and welcoming! Great place if you are on a budget.
