Can't fault this hotel at all. Great location, great buzz/ vibes and the staff were really friendly. Our room was cleaned every day. Yes the rooms are a bit small but have absolutely everything you need for a few days in NYC. I absolutely loved the decor and the roof top bar was fantastic. 

Great stay at Pod 39

great location, a few minutes walk from 5th avenue on 39th street east. Tiny rooms but very well thought, and very clean. Staff is very friendly and always eager to assist you in any of your request. A restaurant and a bar are a plus, you can even have a continental breakfast for a vey decent price in the morning! I have been staying There for several years and I would recomment this hotel without any hesitation; Enjoy!

Pod 39 is on East 39th, conveniently between 3rd and Lexington, and just a few blocks from Grand Central Station, the New York Public Library and 5th Avenue, and the United Nations. Many nearby places to eat or grab a drink, and the in-house restaurant, Salvation Taco, is not to be missed. The rooms are "pods", but if your goal is a comfortable, clean, well-designed place to rest your head at night, I highly recommend this hotel. Reasonable rates for mid-town, too.

Great location to reach all of NYC

Great food store two blocks north on Madison for coffee, fruit, etc.  Fast elevators.  Straightforward attitude.  Excellent location.  Enough space--tight like a well-appointed camper or train.  Safe.  

On sight access to a nice Mexican restaurant.  Hotel has a bar and places to meet others and sit.  Modern decor.

Walking to locations on Fifth Avenue is a breeze.  I used Pod 39 as a base to hike Manhattan starting early each morning.  I walked to the north part of Central Park one day; the next, to the tip of the island to take the Staten Island Ferry.  Bus and subway service are all around.  Buses are best for me.

Clean, Well Appointed but not Lavish, Efficient

Have stayed at Pod 51 and Pod 39 in the past.  Both are excellent.  Very comfortable beds, pillows, so always a good night sleep.  Always clean and tidy.  Also terrific having a good wi-fi service. Staff friendly and helpful.

Compact, but very comfortable. Good use of space.

It doesn't have unnecessary extras, but it has absolutely everything you will need: clean and nice rooms, fast wifi, and great service! Very good location, 3 minute walk to Grand Central Station. Will definitely stay here again!

Has everything you need!

This is a great hotel for solo travelers. I booked it just for myself when I had to be in NYC. The bed is what we used to call a double bed so it’s spacious enough. When you step out of the bed you are literally in the bathroom. There’s a small TV on the wall and a small table with a lamp. A rod for hanging your coat is the only remaining thing. Yes, it’s a pod and it’s perfect for one. The taco restaurant downstairs has nice servers and a good menu. I’d stay here again. No question!

Teeny, Tiny

While visiting the city for a 2 week trip with my college age daughter, we found Pod 39 to be affordable place to stay (for 15 nights!).  We needed to stay Midtown based on our activities.  Pod 39 is in the Murray Hill area, just 3 short blocks to Grand Central Station, off of Lexington.  Hotels in Midtown are typically pricier, until we found The Pod. The rooms at Pod 39 are small and that's what makes it affordable.  They are designed very compactly and efficiently.  Not fancy or fussy, but simple and modern, with a bit of a European feel.  What you may not realize it that many other area hotels are not actually any bigger, they just don't tell the square footage.   Anyone who is surprised at the size is just not paying attention. The pictures and descriptions the hotel provides is very clear that the rooms are small.  Our room was a bunk room with a private bathroom.  The bathroom has glass walls,  which are frosted from knee to shoulders, with a sliding barn door style door.  So if bathroom privacy is of concern, that would be something to be aware of.  They provide the basics, toiletries, blow dryer, in room safe and FREE wifi. Each bunk had it's own flat screen TV, shelf, outlet and light. The hotel is very clean, quiet and safe.  The staff friendly and helpful. 
 A convenient feature is that in the lounge of Salvation Taco (the restaurant in the hotel) they offer a weekday breakfast of bagel or pastry and coffee, tea or juice for $4, which makes for a fast and easy breakfast.  Many of the grab and go type places are very busy during the morning rush hour with New Yorkers on the go.  This breakfast is a cheap as you can get and a lot more relaxed.   While we were travelling in February, there was some unseasonably warm weather, so we also got to check out the rooftop bar, which is a very cool space.
A highlight of our stay at the Pod was taking advantage of the FREE tours offered by the hotel through a local tour company called Streetwise.  These tours which are done on weekdays from their other location Pod 51 (except on Wed it goes from Pod 39).  Getting to Pod 51 is an easy bus ride, subway ride or walk up the 10 blocks to Pod 51.
The tours are of different neighborhoods in NY done by locals.  They are definitely the off the beaten path type tour.  Not the typical tourist sights.  They are walking tours that cover different areas for about 2 1/2 hours.  They give history and insight to the neighborhoods past and present.  The tours are well described on the hotel website.  If you have an interest in seeing more of NYC than the tourist sights, take advantage of these GREAT tours.  The Streetwise tour company owners are guides, as well as a couple of other NY locals.  They are VERY friendly, personable, knowledgeable and helpful.  Thank you Streetwise!
Will definitely be staying here again and I highly recommend The Pod 39!

Great Value in Midtown

Really impressed with everything about this place: the check-in, concierge, quick elevators and yes...the rooms. Small but very functional. Clean. Relatively quiet location, but close to all midtown activities. Modern design and superb staff. Oh, and great room rates too. My new "go-to" hotel in NYC!
