Great value for money, beautiful big room with a four-poster bed and a single but could’ve got another 2 people in. Warm, friendly welcome and 7 min walk to the centre 😊 Breakfast was lovely and would definably go back.

Lovely room, lovley staff and great location

Stopped for a couple of nights and was good value for money. Rooms were nice and clean and the breakfast good. Parking is on the road outside, but we found a space easily (and free). Friendly owners/staff. Takes 10-15 minutes to walk into the city centre. Would recommend and will return here when visiting York again. 

Nice Place to Stay

Just got back from the Four Poster lodge in York and must say was nicely surprised , booked this hotel as our usual hotel in York have put their prices up by quite a bit and decided to give this one a go , lovely and clean with a very friendly " homely" feel about it , breakfasts were spot on ,well cooked with a fruit based alternative , sets you up well for the day . it takes about 10/15 mins nice and steady to walk to the city centre but its flat all the way so no bother , very very limited parking but they tell you this before you turn up so there are no suprises on arrival , like I said it wasn't our  go to hotel in York but it will be from now on

nicely suprised

Nicely situated so can walk into and back from the city . Rooms comfy and cleaned daily . Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices and served during times that suited us . Owners on hand to answer any questions and local information in the reception area 

City break

Arrived at the B&B Friday morning for the weekend. First impression very clean Lovely room. Only a couple of minutes walk to the Barbican theatre where we had book to see a concert on the  Friday night. About 10 minute walk onto the centre. Great location. Will definately be back. Had a lovely cooked breakfast on the second morning. Def kept us going for the day. Highly recommend. 😁😁

Weekend away with my husband.

We made a group booking of 6 rooms at the Fourposter Lodge for our quiz team  weekend away!!! All the rooms were adequate and en-suite, if a little dated. However, BEWARE...if you visit..AVOID ROOM 5 ...as it is on a separate boiler to the rest of the house!! 
After an afternoon of sightseeing, we arrived back on Friday night, ready to freshen up with a nice hot shower.. only to find the water was COLD! Nobody appears to live on the premises, so I tried ringing both numbers provided in reception...but to no avail!!!
I ended up boiling a few kettles to obtain hot water!! Apparently the pilot light had blown out on the antiquated boiler situated in the bathroom!!! 
Someone eventually came and sorted the problem whilst we were out that evening ...so I set my alarm to have a shower the following morning before breakfast ....whilst the water was warm!!! 
However, the situation was not sorted....as once again we came back on Saturday evening to the same scenario..NO HOT WATER and no one around!!! 
It’s a shame this happened ,as the rest of our party were happy with their rooms, the location of the place was good and the breakfast lovely. 
It is obvious the boiler in room 5 needs replacing and the room should not be let until it is done!!!!!
I have given a 4 star rating on the response of our friends, but if it had been on our experience, I am afraid it would have been far less!!! 


Quiz trip away!!

We have just come back from a 2 night stay at the B&B Rooms very basic  however bed was not the most comfortable quite hard to sleep on shower pressure not brilliant takes a while to heat up we were there for 2 nights with a group of friends short walk into York itself around 10/15 minutes so location is good or you can get the local bus for £1.20. Breakfast was very nice good quality products cooked breakfast was nicely cooked and enjoyed it there was the option of fruit and cereal also which was nice should you want a change. Staff that served our breakfast was friendly enough. 

Weekend stay 

We have just returned form a three night break at the Fourposter Lodge in York. Our room was large and comfortable and spotlessly clean with a good shower. Excellent breakfast with a lovely, friendly waitress, nothing too much trouble if you wanted something different. As it was Easter, we were offered hot cross buns and there were creme eggs in our room on Easter Sunday which was a thoughtful touch. 
 Parking is on street so if you want your car on a secure car park, you need to look elsewhere but we had no problems with ours. The centre of York is an easy and flat fifteen minute stroll and there is a wetherspoons near by for cheap eats and drinks.

Easte Break

This is a very typical B&B of its age so don`t go looking for modern as this is not. Room was very comfortable, clean and tidy, heating came on and we had to switch it off. Breakfast is very good and quickly served. Location is great for York centre as the 66 Bus stop is 30 metres away and runs about every 10 minutes. Also the 66 bus goes to the railway station. The area is residential with a small shop, pub and some restaurants. WiFi was very fast.

Nice Place to stay

This B & B, looked a lot bigger in its website page. Disappointed to find there was no parking available, had to park in next street along and walk back to where we were staying. decided to get bus into York as bus stop only over road. Waiting with a local lady when several police cars drewbup, got out and started running down alleyway, the lady informedbys regular ocvurence as drug dealers near where she lived. Wouldnt have stayed here knowing this in advance.
