Such a lovely friendly pub, cosy fire, great food   Had the Lancashire lamb hot pot pie which I think is made on premises or local and slept all night it was awesome, fish finger sandwich for lunch a must too! 

Local  beer was really good! 

If you’ve been before this is a new landlord and  from what we’ve heard loads of good changes have been made

We were up to scatter dads ashes so it was comforting to be treated with a friendly smile and great service 

 would definitely book a table as they do seem to get busy 

Thanks for great service guys you made us all feel at home and we will 100% be back with the dog! X

Warm log fire, fantastic pub food, excellent friendly service

Had been wanting to stay for years and what a fantastic place it is. Dog-friendly, brilliant staff and amazing food. Slept like logs through storm Kathleen. Breakfast area has view of Lakeland 100/Lakeland trails 100k route up to/from Garburn Pass. Would guess is mile and a half/two to Kentmere Horseshoe route…. Just check weather before!

Always brilliant... A great Lakes Pub. I took the barmans advice and went for the Game Pie which was simply outstanding. The staff are always so welcoming here and it's in a stunning location in the valley. It feels like a special place to visit time and time again. Be back soon.

We had a lovely two day break at the Mortal Man.
The hotel is extremely clean, the room was slightly on the small side but was totally adequate for our break and made all the better by having a fabulous view. The staff were all very pleasant and hard working with a special mention for Tommy and Celeste who work in the bar and restaurant. 
The evening menu is limited but we had different meals on each night and they were very well presented and so tasty, much better than traditional pub fayre.
We had a great time here and came away well relaxed.
Thank you all for the hospitality and hopefully we will be back in future.

Relaxing 2 Days Stay.

Lovely food, lots of gluten free options , very dog friendly and extremely welcoming and friendly staff. Every single member of staff went out of their way to check that we were ok and asked how we found the food - didn't feel forced and very genuine. Don't really get that service these days (if ever) 

Lovely walks from the doorstep

Lovely food, and even better service. Very gluten free and dog friendly

Went for dinner on a cold wet evening to be welcomed with such warmth and enthusiasm by the lovely staff. We sat by the cosy fire and looked out of an enormous window across at the stunning view. The steak pie was absolutely delicious! Nicest meal out we've had on our trip to the Lakes. Will definitely return. Very dog friendly too.

Warm welcome and delicious food

My family and I had an amazing weekend away. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Welcoming atmosphere, comfy beds, quality food and scenic views. Great location for walking/hiking Will definitely be staying again.

Faultless

 A lovely, cosy hotel with amazing scenery. Excellent, friendly, helpful staff and the meals were lovely. I’m looking forward to another stay at The Mortal Man in a couple of weeks. Would highly recommend.

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. The bedroom was lovely and warm and the bed was comfortable. The views from the bedroom window were gorgeous, over looking the gardens. (room 9) Might be an issue in the summer if people are sitting out and you are getting dressed in your room, but it was snowing when we stayed so we didn't even have to close the curtains. 
The staff were all pleasant and helpful. The prices were compatible. We didn't eat here so we cant comment on the food. 
Continental breakfast was nice, plenty of choice, cereals, porridge, toast, crumpets, pastries, juice, tea and coffee. And there was plenty.
A short walk is the Troutbeck t rooms which do bacon sandwiches if you fancy that. 
Some lovely walks on the doorstep.
The hotel has several cats which wander around the hotel. They have ducks and geese outside which is wonderful to see.
Over all a really nice break. 

Beautiful setting

Yet another great stay at the Mortal Man. The food and the service were exceptional as ever. The room was superb with stunning views.  The breakfast  is a buffet service with a wide selection. We had a mid week break in January and enjoyed it so much that we returned in February and again with the family in March.  We would highly recommend a stay to anyone who enjoys quality and quantity.
