The hotel drive on approach was pretty and well taken care of, the car park was small and the entrance look tired and in need of some cleaning. The entrance is lovely but no defined reception, the lounge is small but cosy with a huge log burner. I liked the doggy dining room which enabled me to have my dog with me.

We booked a spa day, however this consisted of a massage in an outside summer house, the massage was terrific but the accommodation for treatments needs rethinking, having to get outside coats and wellies on venture into the rain does not give you a great relaxed feeling. No complaints about the massage it was top notch, the sauna and jacuzzi are an additional extra cost which I felt was excessive.

The room was at the front of the hotel looking onto the manicured front garden, will be very pretty in the summer and was nice to look over from our room, the room was adequate but I would not have called it a premium room which I upgraded to, it was small, not really enough room for my dog who we needed to put to bed in front of the entrance door, the couch was sun bleached and the TV was small and I could not watch from the single bed nearest the door due to family feet lying on the other bed, it should be mounted on the wall, the wardrobe door needs looking at as difficult to open and when you yank it you think the mirror is coming off, the sink hot tap sticks. The shower was great and there was lovely soap and shampoos available, nice touch. The teas and coffees in the room where tasty as where the home made biscuits you should offer boxes of these as they where lovely and I would have bought them.

In Summary

If you want to use the spa and massage facilities I would recommend the summer season, there is little entertainment in the surrounding area and the walks are mainly on country roads, with surrounding cattle/sheep fields. Quaint hotel, alcoholic drinks are expensive in the hotel, so ask for a price list. No lunches are served at the hotel, we had to go back out to the nearest town for lunch, I was so looking forward to a spa country retreat was left feeling a little dissappointed in both the facilities and the hotel.

Lovely staff nothing too much trouble, food great, garden sauna wonderful. Spacious room and public areas. Beautiful gardens with spa treatments available. Quiet location, very clean, nice experience. Hotel would benefit from a bit of upgrading

Charming country hotel with garden spa , super food and exceptional staff

The food is exceptional, the beds so comfy, sauna amazing with a very professional but relaxed atmosphere - so pleasant. Organic Isaga shampoo etc was a treat to use too. We also enjoyed local walks and Andy Goldsworthy sculptures.

Quiet relaxed refined Hotel

We had a lovely time at this small, friendly and very cosy hotel, ideally located for the Lowther Hills. The bar and dining rooms are beautiful, the food (both dinner and breakfast) absolutely superb and the staff very friendly, efficient and attentive. Great value for money too. Highly recommended for a quiet, cosy retreat!

Another great stay at Trigony Hotel

Wonderful stay at Trigony House Hotel. The staff are warm, friendly and cannot do enough for you. Our room was clean and comfortable - and the homemade biscuits in the room are mouthwateringly delicious and a lovely touch! The food itself is truly exceptional - hats off to the chef!  A completely relaxing stay - we are already planning our next visit.

A dog friendly hotel but dogs are optional.
We had an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast. The hotel is lovely, our room was very clean and comfortable, the small bar was well stocked and the food was fabulous. Very friendly and attentive staff too which always helps.

No dog required.

We have had a number of disappointing experiences when travelling with our dog.
We had high hopes for Trigony House Hotel and we were not disappointed.
We were warmly greeted and made to feel very welcome.
We stayed in room 8 which was lovely and spacious with an extremely comfortable bed.
Our dinner was a real treat and our meal was prepared with skill and care (even the bread was to die for!).  Our breakfast was delicious too and our hot dishes were cooked beautifully.  I love granola and this was one of the best that I have tried! 
The breakfast menu for dogs is a lovely touch.  Our dog could easily get used to being spoiled with a morning bowl of scrambled eggs!
We were so impressed with the warm and friendly service and we look forward to returning.

Surpassed our High Expectations

Hotel was really nice, everything very clean as comfortable, the staff were lovely and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. Perfect location, easy to find and get to off the main road and a perfect base for exploring the countryside and hills if Dumfries & Galloway and South Lanarkshire. Stunning waterfalls and lovely walks within minutes drive of the hotel.

Lovely stay

We found this country house hotel doing a Google search as we wanted a Spa hotel that had hot tub, sauna and massages. The massage was one of the best I have had and the rooms cosy and comfortable.
The food was excellent as were the cocktails.
Great walking on your doorstep and the Covenanters Graveyard is worth the walk
We were only there for one night but enjoyed it so much we will most certainly be back.
