My wife and I love an afternoon tea and have had some in pretty special places.  The Royal Hotel didn’t disappoint.

The restaurant is bright and fresh with plush seats, a mixture of tables and some booths. 

The staff were all super friendly and helpful, particularly the young waitress who served us.

The food was excellent quality with one of the best home made scones I’ve had. There were plenty of sandwiches and cakes, the bread was very fresh and soft.  

We were offered top ups of hot drinks but there were plenty to start with so we didn’t bother. 

I have a big appetite but left there stuffed and looking forward to our next visit. 

Well worth the drive from Edinburgh. 

Great Afternoon Tea

Attended a conference last night car broke down had to wait for rac. Molly a staff member brought us in to wait and gave us tea and somewhere warm to sit while we waited. Amazing lady couldn’t do enough to help me thank you so much molly

Stayed here for a couple of nights as i was working, normal stay in the Dunblane Hydro but its got very expensive as I don't use any of the facilities, booked the Royal at short notice, good location, very grand downstairs with a good restaurant which i used both nights, staff all very friendly and a decent car park
Rooms.. very tired, said they had started an update which they need, good enough for what i wanted but its not luxury, i needed to run about in my shower to get wet
That's the negative, overall a good stay, excellent value, good breakfast and DBB deal, would use again

Nice hotel, rooms need an update

Firstly can I congratulate the staff as they all worked hard and were always helpful.
The facade is lovely  BUT as soon as you head to the bedrooms the disaster starts, we were a large group who were stay the weekend to attend our annual dinner dance.
Everyone had various issues from damp smelly dirty rooms, some without running water others little lighting? I could go on and on. First morning breakfast was barely edible second morning a bit better.The function suite was better and the food during the dinner was much better.
Please please think twice think thrice before booking into Faulty Towers an experience I DONT want to every try again?

Faulty Towers

Attended a dinner dance and stayed in the hotel. The good bits: the ground level was lovely, function room & lounge area. The food and service at the function were first class, that's where the good bits end. Our room was a star - a dis a star. Very small with an unpleasant smell, window did not open. Ceiling light was very dull, I lost 3 contact lens in the process of putting them in! No bedside lamps, only an angle poise lamp pointed at the ceiling. The curtains were hanging off the rail. In the bathroom, the water was lying in the bath trap and the ceiling was missing a spotlight leaving a hole. It's just as well it was a small room or there might have been a bigger list. The breakfast was adequate but was cold as were the serving plates and the tea. I would like to compliment the staff who were all very pleasant and helpful, considering they must be dealing with numerous complaints and issues on  daily basis. There will not be a return visit from us.

Royal disaster

The rooms at the Royal do not look like those which are advertised.  Our bathroom was freezing with no heating.  Our room was basic.  Staff are nice.  Breakfast was fine.  Parking easily is a bonus and the hotel is central for the town.

Well, Where do I start!  Recently visited for an overnight stay as we were meeting friends for lunch in Bridge of Allan and thought it was easier to stay than travel.
Arrived earlier than check-in time to ask if it was OK to leave our car in the car park till we came back from lunch and check-in, trying to actually find a member of staff was hard, no-one at reception, no bell, eventually found barman, who did manage to get someone to reception, who said that was fine to leave our car.
We came back after a walk around to meet our friends before our lunch booking (which wasn't here!).  Managed to find barman and get some drinks.  When we did return to check-in we waited around 10 mins at Reception waiting for someone to come, then gave up and went to find someone in the bar to give them a call. 
Checked in and things didn't get any better.  Outside hotel, bar, lounge area are all lovely, modern and well presented but as soon as you turn the corner on first few stairs you are in a different world!
We found our room, walked in to a room which had a curtain hanging off curtain rail, carpet was rumpled all over the place, bathroom had broken tiles on the floor and overall everything was very very poor in desperate need of refurbishment.  We tried to get settled, put on TV to find it didin't work properly.  My husband went down stairs to try and find someone to help, eventually he found someone, who brought another two keys for a further two rooms to check TV's just in case he couldn't get ours working, which was the case, guy did admit it was his first day and even he was surprised that things weren't working.  Next room TV wouldn't even turn on, third room we got to, the TV did work all though controls didn't by then we had had enough and moved to this room.  Not ideal by any means though.  Clean enough, no mattress protector on the bed just a sheet.  Room was cold, no heating was on.  Broken tiles in bathroom, cleanliness wasn't great throughout. 
We certainly saw signs informing guests that they were going to be undertaking a refurbishment programme, just wonder when this is going to get started as they aren't doing themselves any favours by not getting rooms up to a standard expected of price being paid.
Can say one good thing, breakfast was passable, waitress was friendly and helpful.

Upgrading Required

The Hotel from the outside looks quite impressive as does the entrance, Bar and lounge area. However, as soon as you turn the corner on the first set of stairs to the rooms it all changes ! The room which we were in (14) was dull, dated and grim. You would not want to spent much time in there. The lighting is poor, the furniture is tired , floor boards are creeky, the heated towel rail in the bathroom doesn’t work and there were used items in the drawers from the previous clients. I was gutted to hear when reading previous review, that people had asked for an upgrade and got a nice refurbished room ! We were there to celebrate my Husband’s Birthday & wish we had known to ask for an upgrade before hand & might have received it. On a positive note. the Breakfast and staff were all good.

A mixed bag

After reading previous reviews on here I was very concerned about our upcoming trip. However we could not fault the royal hotel. 

From start to finish the staff were helpful, knowledgable and fun. We received a complimentary upgrade to the refurbished suite (room 6). The room was beautifully furnished and newly decorated with a super king size bed. The bathroom was immaculate with a double bath and drench shower. 

Cooked breakfast both morning was made to order and delicious with plenty of toast, tea and pastries. 

We did not eat here however we did have a few night caps in the bar which had an extensive choice of cocktails and gin, which staff were happy to offer recommendations, which were greatly received.

Overall we had a lovely few days away in a well decorated and staffed hotel. In a beautiful area with access to plenty of restaurants and bars.

We will be back again.

A happy surprise

Went to stay in the royal hotel for three nights in September 
With my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Had a wonderful time.we were looked after extremely well by the fantstic
Staff who could not do enough for us.Liza managed an upgrade
For us,Jan and Nicole were just lovely.and the gorgeous  Molly 
Who had just started to work in the dining room was amazing 
Nothing was too much bother can't wait to see you all at the
End of the month.
