Not a hotel but a family home with a very grumpy mum.
Advertised has breakfast for £10 and was told rudely no your room only. 
Was allowed to park scooter after a lot of rudeness from landlady yet on Booking.com it said parking on site.
Basil fawlty has more people skills then the owner.

1 week before our arrival we were told we were being moved from the Caprera we had booked to the lower grade Channel View Hotel nearby due to double-booking. However, we received no price reduction to reflect the lower grading. Disappointing, as looking at the web details for both hotels, there is a clear difference in quality (and that it without getting in to reviewing the Channel View Hotel, which is not relevant to this review).

We booked this hotel to stay as we were attending the Isle of Wight festival.  In the description it says offsite parking available, however there was no parking anywhere, and when we asked the owner about availability she was extremely aggressive. We called the hotel to ask about leaving our bags and she was very blunt and said no and that we would have to pay an early rate of £30 if we wanted to arrive earlier than 3.  We knocked on the  door later to ask a question and there was no reply. We were also  horrified to see a list of red rules and regulations on the front door which included not vomiting in the floor! When we called back she shouted at us and was extremely aggressive saying we had been wrong to call her at 9am and that we had called 6 times which was a complete fabrication.  It was the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel and we did not stay as we were very uncomfortable about the experience we had.

Horrifying

Was due to stay between 13th & 20th August 2021, only stayed for about 10 minutes as the hotel looked nothing like it does on Booking.com 

Inside it has an overpowering smell of mouldy damp & the bedroom was no better. A REAL danger to your health if you have asthma.

Also refused to give refund. 

DON'T STAY THERE

Disgusting place

Stayed at the Caprera for 7 days during my 7 night stay in the Isle of Wight. The owner was quiet friendly and the room was adequate and reasonably priced. 

I would recommend visiting The Hideaway Restaurant on the Cliff top a short 10-15 minute walk down the sea front with spectacular views. 

I would also recommend visiting Daisy’s Bakery and Tearooms for breakfast, which is reasonably priced at £5.95 it’s a short 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. 

The Chine at Shanklin and The Needles at Alum Bay is well worth a visit. 

Adequate 

Stayed here with a friend for a night while visiting Sandown airport. Room was clean and functional, but let down massively by a sink that wasn’t connected to the drainage properly.

As I brushed my teeth, the waste water gushed out onto the floor, soaked my socks and smelled bad. The owner knew it was a problem as a towel had been placed around the sink to soak up the mess. When I raised it with the owner they couldn’t have been more dismissive, and offered nothing in the way of a correction. The room shouldn’t have been let in that condition, so I’d avoid this place again. It's plain stupid to let a room in that condition, and not expect a bad review.

Unsafe sanitation - not good

We spent one night at this hotel.  I've given it three stars since the owner was friendly and welcoming and the room, at first glance - although very dated - looked clean and comfortable.  The room was let down by the curtains being off the rails which meant we were not able to close them - not a problem for me but my husband likes to sleep in total darkness. 
There were no mirrors in the room so I had to dry my hair using my phone camera!  We were told there was no breakfast option and, although coffee was supplied in the room,  there were no teaspoons. Little touches that could easily be remedied but are important for a comfortable stay and the price paid.  With some modernisation and breakfast included this would be a lovely establishment. A positive was the large and very comfortable bed.  As it currently stands this is more of a guest room in a family home than a hotel or B@B.

Adequate

The greeting at the door gives you an indication of what you are in for. ‘Please arrive between these hours......, please phone mobile for assistance, no alcohol allowed’.The person who greeted Kevin and myself was the babysitter as there is no Reception area. This is not a Hotel as advertised.Although clean the bathroom amenities needed attending to as the shampoo container had been empty for a long time.Mediocre at best and I will look for a proper hotel next time.

Free wifi but it never work on my both phones.
Its not a hotel, a family house who make rooms on 1st floor and live on ground floor.
The picture of garden is a big lie because garden was full of small wooden blocks so dont even think to sit there.
Shower pressure is a big shame seriously, my hair length is 3inch maximum but still i need 10mint to shampoo it.
Mattress is almost finish even spring making silly voices, 2 single bed join together makes a double bed...wow….don't forget pain killer for your back!!
Good thing bed side lamp but in which 1 is not
working.
Toilet door has no locks and toilet door can be easily lift up because door was setup like a curtain rail which was fixed only from top not in bottom so lift it up.

We came over for Isle of Wight Pride, but decided we'd make a weekend of it! 
We chose this hotel as it was so close to the beach and town.

Booked this hotel in April, then made the mistake of reading some of the reviews!
They were really varied, so I'm not sure if the hotel has changed owners recently or something.
It seems they also own the Channel View Hotel, which is next door. 
On arrival, the friendly young man who greeted us had to go next door for the paperwork, so perhaps things could be organised a little better here, as we were just left standing around outside until he came back. Luckily the weather was sunny! 
We were told where our room was (not shown) and after reading mixed reviews, set off with some trepidation!

I booked the triple room with garden view, as there were 3 of us, and I'm not sure this was the room we were given, as we were on the first floor, but nonetheless, our room was really nice!
It was bright and spacious, so plenty big enough for the 3 of us, and lots of storage too! 
Gorgeous big windows which gave us a lot view of the sea! 

Now for the niggles! The shower door is off of its runners at the bottom, so the doors don't close properly. Water pressure wasn't great, but we're really familiar with the area, so it happens sometimes! 
Only hand towels were provided for is, so you may want to take a larger one.
Tea and coffee making facilities are available, but we used up our milk in the evening, and couldn't be bothered to go to the hotel next door to ask for more. Perhaps leaving milk, tea, coffee etc in the Caprera itself may be more convenient?
We chose not to have breakfast here, and ate at a cafe in Sandown instead.
 as the shops are only a 5 minute walk away.
When it came to checking out, we had to go next door to do that, and the man I handed the keys over to was the complete opposite to the lovely man who had greeted us on arrival! In fact he hardly grunted 2 words to me!!

In short, would we stay here again, yes. The price we paid gave us a room that was great value for money, in a part of the island that we love!
