This is an excellent hotel steeped in traditional values of service. Nothing was too much for the staff and when our dinner booking doubled in size, it was just taken in their stride. 

Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge, very different from the modern shoeboxes other hotels offer - I will definitely book again.

An absolute gem

Friendly staff and he’ll looks great. However a few issues. Bath plug ‘stuck’ meaning Bath couldn’t be drained. Shower head sprayed water everywhere and toilet seat was loose.  In the bathroom there is absolutely nowhere to put anything!  Ended up with toilet bag wedged on top of radiator.

Some good some bad

We first had afternoon tea at St Elizabeth House a couple years ago and it was delicious, a real treat.  However, yesterday afternoon’s tea was a real disappointment.  To be fair, the sandwiches were nice enough and the scones, which were served with very generous helpings of jam and clotted cream, were excellent.  However, the cakes were really disappointing.  They are listed on the menu as ‘sweet delicacies’ and the photo shows beautiful little sweet treats.  What we were given bore absolutely no resemblance to this - we were given several large slabs of cake, all of which were an unappetising beige/dark brown and which, when we tried them, were fairly tasteless.  I honestly couldn’t recommend this afternoon tea to anyone.

Disappointing Afternoon Tea

St Es is one of my favourite places to visit for a treat. Food as always is excellent, I do think the bar prices are a little overpriced- £8.50 for two soda waters with a dash of lime in each! Service was very good considering it was so busy when we visited on Monday.

Overpriced drinks but great food

Our Afternoon Tea was a retirement gift, it took a while to be able to get it as they initially lost our booking then was booked up. However once we managed to get in I can say it was a lovely venue and excellent value tea. There was plenty to eat, plus they accommodated my dislike of turkey by providing extra cheese sandwiches. The day we went is was quiet so we didn’t see the staff very much however this was not a real problem. Would we return yes I think so 😄

Delicious

Beautiful location, really attentive service. Try the ham hock, chicken parfait starter! Best I've had. 
The lunch menu is vast, but seemed very fresh.
Try and get a window seat, overlooking the beautiful grounds. 
Will definitely try again.

Absolutely delightful

Went to St Elizabeth house restaurant for celebration meal. Ordered the prawn cocktail for starters and it was the most unusual prawn cocktail I have ever had, there was a strange jelly like substance on the plate,which never in my years of having this starter have I ever seen. Still we thought different restaurants do try alternative ways to prepare things nowadays, so ate it. However when the main meal came I found it hard to try and eat as it tasted awful. We were told that they would take our drinks off the bill as way of apology for the meal but I said I was happy to pay for the drinks because I was able to drink them but I wasn’t paying for a meal I couldn’t eat. I was told that was their policy and she couldn’t do anything about it. 
Needless to say I shall not be returning to this restaurant, where customer care seems to be low on their list of priorities.
There are many other restaurants in the area that do care about the quality of their meals and care about their customers.

Not the best experience 

This was the first time we came here and what a beautiful place it is. From start to finish the staff were friendly and professional. Our room was amazing which was the Longbrook Junior Suite which had two roll top bathtubs next to each other with a huge walk in rain shower with complimentary toiletries. Only annoying thing was lack of shelving for our personal toiletries/toothbrushes etc and a decent light for applying make up. Plus the double doors made such a racket each time you went through them.  The bedroom was luxurious with a deep comfortable mattress with complimentary chocolate on arrival. One small bottle of water for two people seems a little lacking in thought also the total lack of drawer space in the bedroom. This can be remedied easily though as the room is large enough for a chest of drawers, this will also solve the lack of space to put other personal bits and pieces. 
Now for the best part - the food.  It was absolutely delicious and not small portions either. The price is very respectable and a good and varied choice to be had. I did see an Afternoon Tea being served to some guests and it looked amazing! I am a real foodie and expect a certain quality and you get this here. Maybe that is why restaurant booking is extremely advisable. There is a dress code and the ambiance is good here and good for romance as well as get togethers with family and friends. They have a drinks menu but when at the bar I saw that there were many more drinks available so that needs updating and also a larger variety of cocktails would be good too. After our dinner we sat in the bar and listened to some music playing whilst having drinks and talking and the ambience was lovely specially when they dimmed the lighting and put in the special lighting.  
The breakfast in the morning was equally lovely with an array of continental cuisine alongside cereals, fruit juices, fresh fruit, yogurt. The hot food is cooked fresh which include the usual breakfast items, I had a cheese and ham omelette which was delicious.

Hidden Gem well worth staying and eating

We went for dinner mid-week. Absolutely delightful- perfect service, beautiful setting and superb food. Quite an extensive menu but the food served was presented well and didn’t taste reheated. It was our first visit but it won’t be our last!

Perfect

Staff were lovely, friendly and accommodating. 
The hotel grounds are beautiful with lots of parking but little lighting outside when going to the car later in the evening if you need to!
We stayed in the Longbrook room, the room was lovely and clean and smelt fresh. Its a spacious room with robes (although they state large there quite small!), two baths, twin sinks and large shower. The rooms need updating. No USB charger ports, two of the four blinds in the room didn’t work, no aircon so was very warm and the fan didn’t really do anything. The mattress dipped into the middle. Tea/Coffee is in the wardrobe that then has to be moved to the table to use, but the table is already crammed with items. 
The bathroom window is starting to rot and doesn’t open. The shower is spacious but water pressure is not great. Toiletry supplies are rather basic.
Lighting in either the bedroom or bathroom to do hair/makeup is awful. 
Food was a buffet and was OK, however i do know the food during the day is fantastic although the menu needs updating. 
The breakfast was average. Continental and full english. Full english was one sausage (not of good quality) two pieces of bacon that were dry, two table spoons of baked beans, a hard poached egg and 6 small mushrooms! 

We paid £160 for B&B, we wouldn’t return and wouldn’t recommend this hotel venue.
