Excellent place to stay. Seafront. Very friendly. Lovely rooms. Good breakfast. We had two rooms here and both were good. Right next to the sea. Parking is not ideal though immediately around the property.

Lovely position to stay

Visited to have lunch. Well decorated clean and virtually empty. Asked for table for two, told by Sinead to sit anywhere and someone would get our order. 10 mins later lots of staff chatter and presence but no attention. Went to bar and asked if we had to order from the bar, barman said “whatever you want to do” we ordered two coffees and 7 mins later still nothing but staff chatting to barman as if he was simple, describing my order several times and giggling. He then had to ask us what we had ordered again. Painful wait and decided we would obviously not have any luck with food order so decided to leave. On paying for coffee the ‘ chatty ‘ staff member asked if we had enjoyed our food! She had been present for the whole painful 20 mins wait so not sure if this was the inconvenience of having customers interrupt your social gathering or genuine confusion. From the last reviews we obviously missed out on Brian but he really needs to recruit effective staff. We left and went to the Wheelhouse pub. Very good food and excellent service. Would not revisit this place again.

Appalling staff

Tiny room, sealant around window hanging off. Shower tray filled up within minutes, bathroom door didn't shut. Taps loose and shower isolation switch hanging loose from ceiling. Very disappointing. Nice, friendly owner whom we reported the faults to. Just git a feeling that this place was very unloved, and to be honest hugely overpriced. It really needs updating, and some serious maintenance work doing.

Nice owner, tired hotel

Had another fantastic weekend at the Beach House and met some really lovely people. Yet again Brian (the owner) made us feel really welcome, nothing is ever too much trouble. If you like a good breakfast, you’ll struggle to find anywhere better, chef Richard did a great job. 
See you again next year!!!

Fantastic

This is a lovely quirky little gem of a hotel, right on the seafront but what makes this place is Brian the owner... he is SO accommodating, such an interesting pleasant gentleman.
Went out of his way to welcome us, even offering to drive us into the town centre, which is only a few minutes walk.
Brian cooked us a wonderful full Welsh breakfast the following morning.
He is the Star of this hotel.
I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're looking for something unique and charming.

Fabulous little gem of a hotel

My boyfriend and I were visiting Penarth around lunchtime before heading off to Cardiff Bay for the evening. We came across this charming little café along the seafront and decided to head inside and get a bite to eat. The food came really quickly (although it was quite quiet so that may be why) and we couldn't fault it. The location is also great to look out into the sea and people/dog-watch as there were quite a few window seats. Penarth is a beautiful little village and this café fits right in, I would definitely recommend.

Tasty and good value lunch

We were taking a little trip as a couple before our baby is due! It was the perfect place! The owner is super friendly and a great host. The room we stayed in (room 3 I think) had beautiful views of the sea that you could even see whilst lying in bed! The area itself is peaceful and was a great place to spend a weekend relaxing. The town isn't far (walkable if not 8 months pregnant I'm sure!) and was worth a visit too. Lovely breakfast in the cafe downstairs and the ladies who run it are also so friendly! Just perfect! 

Perfect!

Had an excellent full English breakfast today. Superb service too. Good value at £16 for two breakfasts inc tea and toast. Quality ingredients used.  Looking forward to visiting again next time we are in Penarth.
