I thoroughly enjoyed my two-night stay at Furzedon B&B. The double room is spacious and private with everything you need, including your own entrance. Bed and bedding were very comfortable. It was like a retreat with a view of the pond and garden. Fabulous breakfast, warm hosts, I will return!

Worn-out from our flight overseas and the drive down from Manchester we arrived at Furzedon’s doorstep unexpected, owing to Hotels.com utter failure, and on the evening of the England-Croatia soccer match. As I knocked on the utility door inside I could hear the rustling of dishes and many voices. Yes there were friends as well as Jan and Jerry's son, daughter-n-law, and 2 grandchildren finishing up dinner and getting ready to watch the game.

So many things could have gone wrong when Jan opened the door. We had booked the two rooms for five nights through Hotels.com. Hotels.com had gladly taken our money, and happily given us confirmation numbers; Hotels.com never communicated with Furzedon, never booked our rooms, never let us know they had not made contact. But these most gracious and accommodating folks made us feel so welcome. They let us come in to use their personal restroom, and asked us to please allow them a couple of hours to make up the rooms (which so lucky for us, were available). We went to have dinner and returned in 2 hours.

Upon returning to Furzedon we did an official introduction reset with Jan and Jerry. Our rooms were clean, spacious, comfortable, and ready. They helped us carry our luggage in, and told us we would take care of payment and other formalities later. We were quite ready for bed!

The two rooms we booked were wonderful, clean, sported very modern bathrooms with large closets and all the amenities one could ask for. Furzedon breakfasts as prepared by Jan are ‘Proper British Breakfasts’: Bacon (more like a slice of ham), sausage, the most amazing eggs, roasted tomatoes, mushrooms, toasted homemade bread, and an assortment of homemade jams and jellies. Breakfast also includes fresh fruits and berries, yogurts, cereals, coffee, juice, and etc. If you leave that table hungry it is your own fault!

Set right outside the village of Merton, Furzedon boasts a nice walking path round their pond with geese, pheasants, the obligatory farm cat and a wonderful assortment of plants and flora tended by Jan. The locale is so quiet we slept with the window open. The air was so clean Momma said she was breathing better than she had in years!

Our son in law came to pick us up one morning and took a tour; he pronounced Furzedon the nicest B&B he had seen in the area. 

We will certainly book here again upon return visits!

I cannot recommend Furzedon highly enough.  It is the most lovely house, beautifully designed and of great elegance and beauty in a peaceful little Devon village.  Jan and Jerry are warm and welcoming hosts, yet leave you free to come and go at your leisure.  The rooms are beautiful, very spacious and well equipped.  Breakfast is of the highest quality, with all fresh and organic ingredients.  It’s difficult to think how it could be bettered, and we hope to return many times.

Must be one of the best B&Bs ever!

Great bed and breakfast excellent room and service. Friendly  owners could not be more  welcoming and helpful. Very clean and modern room. Great location to RHS rosemoor. Excellent English breakfast Lovely rural setting

Absolutely Great place to stay and unwind and relax, Lovely owners and very spacious room with a great breakfast plenty of choice. The Gardens and pond  are very nice to sit and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.
