I was part of the wedding party being held in this hotel, on the surface everything seems lovely and we were so excited for my sons wedding.
 However, around 5pm when the evening room was being organised, I went to check into my room. There were three ladies behind the desk, once they had stopped chatting I asked to be checked in, without a hello, welcome or have a great stay I was told by one “breakfast at 9 and out at 10”! I was a little taken back by this, I asked her to repeat. The other lady then said the same quote “breakfast at 9 and out at 10”! I then realised what they were saying so I repeated the phrase back to them, the other lady, I believe to be Portuguese then nodded and added “yes we have another wedding tomorrow “! I was given my key with no explanation as to where my room was.
I realise that this venue may be used to multiple / daily events but please remember that we are paying guests paying well over £200 for a room and would like to be treated as so. 
Through the day, the weather was awful and all the guests were happy that there was plenty of places to sit and chat, however when we were asked to be seated at the top table I was told which way I could get to it as there was water coming through the ceiling. 
This was only the start, there were multiple leaks through the glass ceiling that day and the silver buckets made good water carriers but I was a little upset that so many were needed around the room, even sitting on far side water pouring through onto the benches whilst we sat and chatted.
Even the window of the main staircase was leaking and the smell of damp was significant.
I understand that this is an older property but if you are going to get people to spend their hard earned cash then at least make it water tight. 
Our evening ended and I went up to my room to find it like a sauna, I tried to use the temperature keypad near door but couldn’t seem to turn the heat down. I went back downstairs and spoke to a young lady who said she didn’t know how to turn the heat down and would get someone to help. I waited a very long time and no one came. I went back up to my room to see if I could maybe open a window. On opening the curtains I not only realised that you couldn’t open the window but parts of the window panes were cracked.

I went back down to the reception and asked again, how can I turn down the heat. Still no one came back and a stood for ages. I then found another lady who finally sent a gentleman to me. He said “ if we turn it down it will be cold”and went on “I can do it from down here”. 
So I went back up to the bedroom and hoped that the room would finally cool down as it was scorching hot particularly in the bathroom. We had the worst nights sleep ever, the heat wasn’t adjusted. We had a shower in the morning and the vent above was really dirty and full of dust also the tiled floor was really grubby especially around the radiator.
We decided not to stay for breakfast as we had a restless night because of the heat in the room, we left early around 7. 
I was really looking forward to our stay with Swynford Manor and although the wedding went off without a hitch,  the state of the venue when raining , lack of cleanliness and the mindset of your staff really put me off. I would never recommend this establishment.

Unhappy, needs improvement 

I got married here just over 3 weeks ago and it was lovely, the venue looked stunning due to the amazing events supplier, the florist and Sian.  I really wanted to give 5 stars but there were a few issues that happened on the day.  I emailed Lorna on the 25th May who was my wedding coordinator but I've received no reply acknowledging it or an apology which I find quite unprofessional.  The issues I raised were:-

1. On the morning of my wedding when getting ready strangers were walking around viewing the venue.  I was not aware of this and was not asked if this was okay.  It would be nice to be warned that this could happen as one person walked in the bedroom as I was getting ready.

2. At my final planning meeting I was advised by Lorna that the bridal "get ready" room would be locked from when we left to go to the ceremony.  I was advised that this did not happen and there were personal belongings in the room.

3. I was extremely upset and embarrassed when two of my guests who are vegans were given goats cheese on their main courses when they had specifically chosen a vegan meal and I had stated in the meal planner to Swynford.  I was advised that apparently the chef had prepared the dishes earlier and "forgot" they were vegan! My guests had to wait and were given a completely different meal to what they had asked for.  What if my guests had eaten it and had an allergic reaction! I find this totally unacceptable from a wedding venue who promote such high standards and have won awards!

4. There were 2 power cuts - one when the best man was giving his speech, this wasn't a major issue as the back up generator kicked in and the second one was later on in the evening.  I had a pay bar so when the power cut happened the wifi went as well so my guests were not able to order and pay for any drinks.  They were told that they would have to find some opened bottles of wine which was extremely unhelpful for the guests who didn't want alcohol and just a soft drink i.e. coke/lemonade.  Now I completely understand that power cuts are out of our control but there should at least be a robust adequate back up plan in place for these situations.

Even though my wedding was small and didn't cost as much as the bigger weddings held there (it was a lot of money to us!) it was still a very important day and meant everything.  Looking back on the day I have to say Sian (venue manager) was very helpful and was there right from when I arrived in the morning.  She decorated the venue beautifully alongside the events supplier.  I just feel that my wedding was not treated as importantly as it should have been, it seemed a little slap dash.

I must add that all of my suppliers that I had booked and paid for on the day were amazing and I cannot fault them.

Wedding Day

Beautiful location for a wedding. Staff are friendly, prompt and very helpful. Not a single problem or issue, just absolutely superb. Thank you so much for making a celebration all the better. The rooms are fantastic as well (the bath is luxury). Food was delicious throughout the day/evening. I highly recommend.

Lovely wedding venue

Attended a recent wedding, so so pleased that they were able to cater for my dietary requirements ( dairy free) and didn’t make it seem like I was separate from everyone else like I’ve had in other venues. The food was brought out as normal with everyone else with no issues and it was absolutely beautiful, hats off to the staff and venue, stunning!

Great night

A wonderful venue in nice surroundings. On the negative side was the overpriced, flat lager that was served all night. And at a wedding reception you’d have thought there should be more than two serving!

I dont know if u could ever express in words how much swynford Manor means to myself and my husband but I will give it ago.

This place is so beautiful and we really did have the best wedding day we ever could have imagined. Nothing was to much for them. Everything was perfect. The staff working on our wedding day were so polite and friendly. A number of my guests commented on how lovely they were. 

The rooms were perfect. Very clean. Up to date. And i particularly loved the tin bath. 

The food was absolutely delicious and all our guests loved the food. No complaints here.

And as for Holly our wonderful wedding Co ordinator what can I say.  She is amazing the best we could ask for. She listened to everything we said always at the end of the phone if we had any questions. If it wasn't for her our day wouldn't have been quite so perfect. We thankyou Holly. You are amazing.

Swynford manor will forever hold a special place in our hearts.  I could never imagine having our wedding anywhere else. For us it was perfect.

Most amazing venue

We got married at Swynford Manor on the 29th October 2021 and had the most perfect day. It’s a stunning venue that wowed our guests, particularly as you enter the long driveway down!! The food was superb and everyone commented on how good it was - nothing was left and the catering team were incredibly flexible and helpful prior to our visit too. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and impeccably tidy , clean and homely too! 

What really stood out for us, however, was the staff. They truly went above and beyond to ensure that our day was magical. They were efficient, helpful, kind and enjoyed a laugh! We would really like to place on record our thanks for 3 individuals though: Maria - she was the first person we met when we were exploring venues and was incredibly helpful. We were so pleased she was there on our day too and she clearly always puts everyone else first; Holly - she was our coordinator on the day and was AMAZING. She clearly knew what she was doing, kept us calm and kept checking in, the day ran so smoothly thanks to her and her patient manner; finally, Mark - what a fantastic toast master - he made sure all our guests knew what was happening, kept them entertained and looked after us at all times - he’s an absolute must have and without him, our day wouldn’t have been as smooth as possible (I definitely would have had a meltdown!) he’s got a great sense of humour, clearly cares about each of his couples and is a pro! 

Thank you everyone at Swynford, you truly gave us a day that will be remembered forever by us and our guests. We just wish we could do it again. It was perfect!!

If you’re thinking about getting married at Swynford, do it!!!

The most perfect wedding venue

Amazing wedding venue, so beautiful here. The rooms are so plush and pretty. The staff are very friendly and accommodating especially with the restrictions. Very professional. The bar staff were great and especially a young lady called Lauren who after many hours of work couldn’t have done more for us. The staff can really make your stay even better.

Fab wedding venue

We got married in February 2020 at Swynford Manor.

From our first visit to Swynford in March 2019  to the end of our big day we felt welcome, like nothing was too much to ask for and completely fell in love with this venue. 

Despite the manor being a period building, the interior has been fitted out to be modern and stylish. The garden room in particular really has the wow factor! The black, white and grey throughout the interior really provides a blank canvas for you to add your own colours to.

The entire Swynford team are helpful, friendly and professional. We had no problems calling up or emailing them with our queries and they would always answer in a timely fashion. On the day itself, all of the staff really did go over and above to ensure that both us and our guests had a brilliant day. The team really invests in its couples, and you feel like you are the most important people that they are dealing with. 

The food was delicious, so much so that some of our guests have tried to re-create our starter (Swynford scotch egg) and all dietary requirements were easily catered for. The background team were top notch. From the staff serving tables at the wedding breakfast to those that manned the bar, all of them were brilliant. 

We had been to barn weddings and hotel weddings but Swynford really is something completely different and really sets you apart. The accommodation at the venue is gorgeous and having the place to yourself really adds to the appeal. If you are thinking about holding your wedding at Swynford, do not think twice. We cannot recommend this place enough.

A special thanks to Brooke, Ricky, Daisy and all of the serving team and chefs who helped our wedding day happen without a hitch. We only wish we could have our day all over again!

Our wedding day

Thank you all so much. We had the most memorable day.  Everyone at Swynford made sure our daughters day was perfect.  From the smallest to the largest detail it was managed to perfection. Staff were there first thing in the morning to the end and back again on Sunday. Amazing wedding venue, so nice as it’s exclusive unlike a hotel which you have to share with hotel guests.
