On a drive up the M4 to bath, found this loverly little place to stop for a lunch time meal. This place was very inviting and all decorated for Christmas. We had bacon & Brie ciabatta’s that was accompanied with chips,salad and coleslaw and at a very reasonable price. The decor inside was excellent. - we would definitely visit again when in the area

Dropped in here for a drink as I passed through en route to a concert at nearby Douai Abbey.  The staff were very helpful and the wine was excellent.  I would definitely come here again if I was nearby, and would recommend this place to others also.

Fantastic service, we sadly had to organise a wake for a family member and after contacting the Angel and being shown the buffet menu options it was a no brainer. 

I contact initially by phone and was talked through the options available and was advised that for our requirements the middle option buffet was probably the best to go for, we booked up and went and paid a small deposit to secure the date. 

About a week before the event we received a phone call to check on any dietary requirements which I thought was a nice touch and we also confirmed the numbers. 

On the day we arrived at the time specified and the coffee and tea was already there and it wasn’t long before the food came out, it was fresh and looked great and again wasn’t long before people started to take the food, filled rolls, cold meat, samosa, spring rolls, chips along with coleslaw and potato salad. 

It was a fantastic buffet and the team at the Angel are great with nothing being to much of a problem. 

Sarah and I would like to pass on our thanks to all at the Angel for everything you did and if you are thinking of a buffet or food, then please contact the Angel it was great value for money and the team couldn’t do enough.

Absolutely Amazing! 
We had our wedding breakfast and reception at The Angel on 16/12/2022. We had exclusive use of the function room and heated marque, both areas were absolutely beautiful and spacious for our 40+ guests. We provided The Angel with our personalised wedding decorations and Sandra and her team put together the room so well, it looked absolutely beautiful and just like what we had imagined, if not better! Every single staff member we dealt with were extremely helpful, friendly and kind! Special mentions to Sandra and Andy who went above and beyond for us from the moment we first enquired and booked to the day after when collecting our remaining belongings. The Angel were extremely professional and absolutely faultless! For our wedding breakfast, we had a sit down meal of a festive roast/Christmas dinner. Every single guest, including ourselves enjoyed the food and complimented how plentiful the portion sizes were which is fantastic! We had a buffet in the evening which again was so yummy and I am pretty sure it was all eaten! The drinks were all fantastic too and the barmen were great!! Our wedding day was so magical and The Angel really played a massive part in creating this a day to remember for everyone! I know all of our guests were so impressed and will return in the future! My husband and I will also be returning regularly in the future! I can’t praise and recommend them enough! Thank you so so much!! Chloe & Lee :) 

Great meal, great service. Prawn cocktail & fish & chips were amazing. Thank you for a great experience. Staff were attentive and we were made very welcome. Been a few times and never disappointed.....

My 2 dogs and I jumped into this fab place after being caught in the rain on the canal  walk and were rewarded with a roaring fire and the kind welcome of Andy and other colleagues. The beer on tap was fab but when my wife arrived we decided to eat and have wine as well which made for a great Friday afternoon.. The menu is extensive but take the advice of Andy and you will not go wrong, The beef roast is amazing but I took advice from Andy and had the short rib with veggies and will definitely have it again. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive but great ambassadors to this welcoming place led by the man Andy all work hard and will be poached by other pubs if I had the money to buy my own. All in all I will be back...cheers

We have an excellent midweek carvery yet again the staff here are most attentive and very helpful the food is excellent we cannot  fault the food or the service here. The whole place is kept spotlessly clean the prices of there carvery is amazing because of the popularity its kept most competitive. Can't wait until we revisit this venu again.

Had a recommendation from one of my beer buddies so we hopped on a bus along the A4 for the 10 minute ride to Woolhampton. The carvery didn’t disappoint, with generous helpings of pork, beef and turkey plus all the trimmings. £11.95 seems very reasonable when stacked up against the usual chain restaurants considering this pub’s prime location. Book a table over the phone. I’m sure some might be a little picky about slightly chewy beef or slightly overdone Yorkshire’s, but I’m very pragmatic when it comes to price versus quality. The venue itself is beautifully done out with an extensive outer seating area, much of it covered. Although we had little or no room after the main course, the sweet menu did look very tempting. The staff team were all very efficient, friendly and attentive. The bonus was a little bit of unobtrusive live music, (friends of mine,) which I believe is a regular feature between 2pm and 4pm each Sunday. This is going to become a monthly treat for us, especially into the autumn and winter months.

We went to The Angel today 20th July and so please we did, we both had a mid-week carvery. I had the beef and my wife had the pork. The amount of meat we got was amazing and all the trimmings  were excellent. The Jus/Gravy was so flavoursome, I think the chef could bottle it as a side line. And all this at a very competitive price of £11.95 a head which is a wonder for the size of the meals, we had a bit of a struggle to finish all but we forced ourselves as it was too good to leave, being mid week we were served at the table and didn't have to get into a queue, all the staff today were all  excellent, the Irish gentleman who served us today was great and very friendly, he even had a bit off a banter with us. The place is kept spotlessly clean and the gents toilets were fresh also. we are looking forward to returning again soon thanks to all the staff. And compliments the the chef.

I booked a function room and buffet for a small family party. The room was lovely and just right for us. The buffet was very good, lovely selection and very fresh and hot. Very good value for money. Thank you x

Booked a table at short notice. Good selection of food. Ordered 3 courses. Food arrived promptly and were all very tasty. Good customer service with attentive staff. Everything was reasonably priced.  Will be going back and would recommend

Pleasant family meal

Went for a birthday lunch 2 couples. Nice welcome service was good and not obtrusive. We had 3 courses 2 started with potato skins very nice but beware very filling if having 3 courses , one prawn cocktail one Brie thumbs up from all for first course. My husband had sea bass my sister in law and I had duck and hunters chicken was other meal. All good but we both would have liked more plum sauce on duck. Desserts 2 sticky toffee 1 profiteroles 1 cheesecake all washed down with bottle wine. First time I have been here and would definitely return.
