The pub is under new management. They had only been open 2 weeks but provided a private room with a warm and welcoming environment.
The food was really lovely, non stop pizza’s from their new pizza oven together with southern fried chicken and salad. 
Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended!

60th Birthday Party

This is a very friendly, cosy country pub in the village of Offley, Hitchin.

A family member has moved in up the road so I decided to stop here for a pint whilst walking the dog.

Very friendly barmaid and we sat speaking to a local gentleman for some time.

Friendly, Cosy

The staff and locals are friendly, the food is great and a good selection of ales, larger and low alcohol beer. We use The Red Lion for a meal for two and family celebrations, there is something on the menu for everyone. They also have accommodation on site detached from the public house.

Arranged to meet some rival fans before an FA Cup game.
Really well kept beer, food menu varied and good price.
All the dishes we had (8) were really good.
Hope we play at Luton again soon. 
Pub was recommended by a local who obviously knows his stuff.

Cracking pub, friendly staff, good food and service.

Warm and welcoming, child friendly. The food was delicious and all home made on the premises. Make sure you leave room for dessert, the Belgian waffles are particularly stunning! Looking forward to a return visit

Save room for dessert!

We were made most welcome by our hosts at the Red Lion, Offley, for our family birthday meal out. The pub is cosy with some good ales and ciders on tap. I believe the same family (Jason & Louise Archer) have been running the pub for over ten years. The restaurant section where we had our meals is the former conservatory, which has been tastefully modernised and made as cosy as the rest of the pub. We chose a range of meals from the menu and all were provided in good time and presented well by the helpful waitress/barmaid.

Family 60th Birthday Meal for 12

Stayed for 2 nights to do some walking in the local area.  £45 a night for a double room is very good value - rooms are basic but had everything we needed - tea and coffee making, toiletries, tv etc.  Bit of a nuisance having to go upstairs to the en-suite bathroom but no big deal.  Ate dinner in the pub both nights - friendly staff and locals and the food was excellent.  You need a big appetitie to tackle the ribs and the mixed grill but Val's pie and steak were much more manageable and just as good.

Very Good Value

We popped in for Sunday lunch. The pub is cosy and the menu has some classic as well as new dishes. The food was good and we had the Sunday roasts. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Only a couple of criticisms, roast dinner had small roasted potatoes with skins on which weren’t as good as some proper big roasties. The staff seemed short handed and were constantly dashing around. I think an extra pair of hands would have enabled them to slow down and offer more drinks and desserts in a timely manner which ultimately is more cash in the till and a better service. If we’d been asked we would have had more drinks but we struggled to get their attention with it being so busy.  Overall lovely pub, great food just needs a little tweak in the service.

Lovely Sunday lunch

Peaceful and quiet setting. Rooms are clean and the shower is good. It's nice wandering down to the pub garden for breakfast. Hands down the best night's sleep I've had in ages. Check in was easy and we were able to get in to the rooms earlier than advertised which helped us get ready for a local wedding. Thank you for having us!
