Owner reneged on all their commitments during the lockdown extension and effectively cancelled our daughter's wedding reception & weekend just 9 days before hand by sending an unsigned email! Utterly devastating. Totally chaotic and disorganised - refused to answer their phones or return messages and emails.  Would not engage to try and resolve the challenges either real or perceived. I cannot express strongly enough how let down we have been by Prince Hall.  A beautiful location and house run incompetently and unprofessionally.  If you can, find another venue, please do so - there are much better ones out there, without the heartache and disappointment.

Shambolic, chaotic, disasterous experience. Unreliable and unprofessional - avoid!

Decided to book a one night stay due to location and being dog friendly.

Dogs can go anywhere except the restaurant. This was fine as the bar room area and sitting room were lovely to relax and have breakfast/dinner/a drink in. Dog towels are set out for use in the porch, treats are in a jar on the reception table.

The rooms are spotless and fresh looking. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful surroundings.

The food was fantastic here. We decided to have dinner here and i'm glad we did. For breakfast you pick  a starter and main, toast was also supplied with tea or coffee. No fry-up but you won't be disapointed with the choices which are cooked and presented to a really high standard. Best breakfast at a hotel you'll get!

We would certainly return. Thank you. Oh and the young , Canadian waitress - you will do well at whatever you decide to do, but i hope you decide on the veterinary degree :-)

Lovely Stay

Just returned after an amazing night at this house. The staff were first class, the food was literally amazing, reasonably priced but so so tasty. I recommend the steak. The bar is quiet but has a large range of drinks. The option of having your dog is a real draw, it’s always a worry taking a dog to a hotel, here it was a breeze. We felt very comfortable, will definitely be returning here.

Our wonderful getaway location - just up the road!  We have been coming here for a few years for short breaks and absolutely love the Hotel, it comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms, the location, the food and the atmosphere!  We are dog loving outdoor types and from a beautifully comfortable and tasteful base we can walk from the front door by foot or  travel to enjoy what Dartmoor has to offer.   The food is always absolutely delicious and satisfying.  We are always made to feel so welcome and love finding excuses to visit.

So wonderful it feels like our second home!

We love this place - have stayed here many times but visited today for a cream tea after a walk on the moors. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the cream teas are amazing. Also dogs are very welcome and everybody is made to feel at home.

Just fab

I have stayed here before in this small country hotel which is located in an old private house on the moor near Two Bridges.  The location of the hotel is remote and isolated and is approached down a private driveway lined with large old trees.  Staying here is more like being a guest in a private house, rather than a commercial hotel.  The food is generous and the bedrooms charming.

Charming as ever

We have passed the sign to the Prince Hall so many times and today decided to turn in for a quick coffee and lunch. What an absolute delight to be greeted so warmly by the family and served with such a superb flavoursome lunch presented to a very high standard. Wonderful setting too with expansive views across Dartmoor. We'll be back and will share our experience with friends.

Absolutely delightful

Nice hotel but full of dog owners and there dogs 
Barking and in the longe and breakfast room
Also a grinding noise all night for 3 of the 4 nights we stayed 
On the 4th night it started about 7am 
Something to do with the well pump we believe 
The shower was useless bath only 
Due to the ultra low pressure 
Great views and location for the moors 
The evening meals and breakfasts were very well cooked and presented 
I think it would do better if they sold it as a more upmarket hotel and ditch the dog friendly tag even if it does mean keeping the hotel dogs out of the breakfast room 
Which was very annoying for a non dog couple 
Not everyone likes dogs !!!!!
Before you say it - yes we should have stayed elsewhere but the two bridges was full and the hotel had two rooms let on our 1st night

Finding someone for drinks was also a bit lame and no archers so we bought our own for the room 
Nice hotel that could do much better with the right marking to contest the two bridges 

Nice if you like dogs 

this place is a real gem , the staff are so helpful and the place is so relaxed right in the middle of Dartmoor. The food is seriously good and would grace most hotels. Of the beaten track, under stated and a really well kept secret. Dogs are welcome which is an added bonus.

As an owner of two dogs a good walk through beautiful countryside is on my list of much loved things to do. Dartmoor is certainly not without plenty of dog friendly places to rest your head or enjoy a pint after a stroll yet the Prince Hall now tops my list of places to enjoy a drink with my four-legged friends at my feet while in the Princetown area. 

Prince Hall was an unexpected find...It offered my partner and i, plus dogs, a location to have a quick restorative drink after a day out on the moor. We weren’t staying at the hotel (and much to my horror my dogs decided to misbehave) however we were welcomed in all the same. 

The gorgeous  moorland setting, cosy interiors including a collection of interesting abstract art, plus the decent drinks menu will make you and your pooch feel at home. 

Once back at my holiday cottage rental a google search found that Prince Hall has an interesting history.
