Ray and Loren could not have been more welcoming. The continental breakfast was more than adequate with a selection of fruit, cereals, jams and spreads, croissant, yogurt, toast tea and coffee ect. Rooms were clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable. Parking right outside. We have friends in the village and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Very welcoming

The property was easy to find, a lovely quiet village away from the bustle of Norwich. The room itself was very clean, nicely decorated and the owners were sooo lovely! 
My daughter is quite shy but took to the owners quickly. They had a good selection of toys and books for her to play with. 
Breakfast was really good. A nice selection of items and the hosts kindly made tea and croissants. I loved the large table where all the guests had breakfast together and  gave such a familial feel to the stay. Parking was in front of the property, plenty of spaces.  
I definitely will be staying here anytime I need to visit my daughter at uni. X

Lovely homely stay

Hethersett Lodge is a lovely place to stay.  Ray was so welcoming and accommodating.  The rooms were clean and fresh and the beds were super comfortable.  Ray also booked us a table at the local Queens Head for our evening meal (just a short walk from the property) which was absolutely wonderful.  I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hethersett Lodge to anyone and can't wait to stay here again!

Room in desperate need of update and dirty bath sealant needs replacing, (which had also been noted a year ago). Cobwebs in bathroom. Mattress felt cheap and very soft.  Breakfast described as continental, but far from it. Very basic.  No great selection of cheese and no cold meats. Basic selection of cereals, and fruit was just banana or apple. No fresh berries, which are plentiful this time of year. We went on from here to visit multiple other B&B's, all of which could show the hosts a thing or two about running  quality accommodation. Won't be back.

Grubby and not value for money.

This was the worst place I have ever stayed in in my life.  The decor was really old fashioned and nothing really matched.  The TV didn't work.  There was no cooked breakfast.  There was no dining room.  Breakfast was in the kitchen where we were accompanied by the couple who ran it. The husband sat down with us at the table  and proceed to talk non stop about his wife while she just stood there.  We had to listen so couldn't talk to oneanother or have our breakfast such as it was in peace.

Wont be back!

We stayed one night at Hethersett Lodge. We were very disappointed and left before breakfast. The furniture was very dated and the hall smelt of stale cigarette smoke. The toilet porcelain was broken. The shower sealant mouldy and tiles around the bath taped on badly. I'm not really sure what to make about the other positive reviews. 

The carpets were very dated and we're weren't happy with carpet in the toilet which smelt. It felt down at heel and we (two women) felt uncomfortable there.

It was quiet though, which we appreciated.

Smelly, dated and shabby

Owners were friendly and their heart is in the right place, but their accomodation was poor and over priced. It has a hostel feel and the accommodation is very dated. Carpeted bathroom (in some dark/awful pattern), corner bath (cream), worn patches in the carpet (covered with cheap doormats), mix match bedding. The most concerning thing for me was the hand towel sits/lays against the toilet brush that is mounted on the wall underneath.

Do not book here. It's not safe. Minimal measures are in place with the virus. The owners believe it's a conspiracy theory and one of them spoke about attending the protest in Trafalgar Square. Each to their own, but it's alarming to hear that when you're trusting your host to keep you safe. As important, they're older and need to keep themselves safe. They're trying to sell and want to stop. Do them a favour by not staying.

Otherwise, it's perfectly clean, though the decor is tired, and a handy base for visiting Norfolk. Don't expect a quiet breakfast, though an adequate one. Do expect a monologue with what I felt to be some casual racism and sexism thrown in. Some people like chatty hosts and may not mind. In the current circumstances, it's the attitude to Covid 19 that's an issue. Plus, when you're on what at the moment is an all too rare stay away, you don't have the energy to summon to challenge.

There's no WiFi either. Conspiracy theory explanation there too.

They shouldn't have reopened here. Staying elsewhere will do the hosts a favour and help them move on faster.

Fantastic hosts who make you and other guests feel like part of the family. Decor is not state of the art but the hospitality is the finest experienced in the last 10 years. Room has real milk for tea etc. unlike that plastic carton pretend milk and the Queens Arms down the road is a fantadtic eatery at very reasonable pricing.

Great overnight stay

We stayed here for one night as we had a family wedding and our room was prepared for an earlier arrival which was appreciated. The hosts were very friendly, however, slightly overpowering. The B&B decor was tired and very seventies, although  our room was clean it was so very dated, different coloured sheets and pillowslips, stored items behind the wardrobe and no full length mirror to look at yourself in. The only modern accessory was the window blind which looked new.The bathroom needed updating and lacked essentials. We slept ok, although I did bash my elbow on the radiator each time I turned over! Breakfast was awful, it was continental, we were asked if we wanted croissant or toast, one or two slices and whether we wanted tea or coffee, the hosts then made you a drink in a mug, we were not offered a pot of tea or a caffetiere, i asked for a de-caf tea and they said they did not have any and had never been asked before so i had to provide my own. One host was busy washing up as we ate and we felt like we were being rushed, it was uncomfortable, so we finished eating quickly and made our escape! I know from other family members who stayed in the surrounding area had a full english breakfast with the works, proper bedlinen and a very up to date bedroom with posh on-suite, for less than we paid, so it is worth looking around.
