We took a random road tripto cardiff not thinking about how busy it would be as rugby was on. No hotels were available so I googled B&B's near by and The prince of wales in prince town came up so we rang to book a room luckily they had 1 room left, a small family run pub, it was the best experience ever. They made us feel really welcome, it was amazing inside being greeted by a central log fire as it was freezing outside, the couple greeted us, they were amazing with there new baby who was beautiful. The room was so homely and cosy. We have said we would be back in a couple of months, it was the best random experience ever. I would recommend it to anyone. Thankyou for the perfect cosy stay. Xx

Random experience. Wales.

We popped in for a meal on a Sunday lunch time. The warmth of the room and the female staff made us feel very welcome.  Nothing was too much trouble as one of our guests could only eat chicken.  So although they were busy with a carvery in the main dining room they served us in the bar/lounge. Everything was clean and friendly. The food which took no time at all in coming was really good. I personally was completely full as I had gone for the gammon meal. All my fellow eaters remarked on how lovely the food was.  We didn't feel rushed or overcrowded, and both the female staff inquired how the food was.  We left completely happy knowing it's a place which we can recommend to all. 

Sunday Lunch Drop in.

I have heard many recommendations for this pub over the past few years but this is the first time I’ve been, it will not be the last!
We were greeted by a really welcoming member of staff who made sure she found us a great table. We spoke to numerous members of staff and they were all warm, friendly and helpful. 
I had the Sunday roast which was incredible value for money, a vast amount of delicious beef brisket, Yorkshire pudding, lots of roast potatoes,  five different sorts of vegetables and a jug of gravy. I can’t remember the price but I think it was just under £13. The pub is known for its huge burgers but I think it should be known for it’s Sunday roast as well. The chips that came with my children’s huge burgers were the crispiest golden ones I’ve ever seen.
I look forward to returning soon!

Great staff and fabulous food.

From the outside, this place doesn’t look anything out of the ordinary. Expectations therefore were contained when it came to anticipating anything half decent to eat for lunch. Don’t get me wrong. Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff were welcoming. There was just nothing of impact, nothing memorable in terms of the fabric of the building. Admittedly though, the menu looked interesting, tempting even. And so it proved to be. The food - and the pies in particular which were literally stuffed full of gorgeousness  - was terrific ; top quality, home cooked, well presented and outstanding value. An impressive ‘choice’ too without being a ‘jack of all trades, master of none’. An absolute ‘find’ and an undoubted ‘destination’ stop…

Looks deceive !

Had a lovely lunch at The Prince of Wales on Tuesday, very friendly staff, a gd menu choice and selection of wines and beers. Our food was delicious and reasonable. On site parking or a carpark very close by. And dog friendly 👍🏼. Will definitely be going back and recommending to friends and family.

Lovely find & good value

Ate here for the first time today, prior we always went to the Plume while in Princetown, what a shame we’ve not been here before, we have been severely missing out. Service was Friendly, great range of beers and the food I can not complement it enough. We had squid starters they were lovely, then went for a burger for main WOW. Fresh home cooked food done to perfection. We will 100% be back. In fact I’ve just cancelled a booking for Saturday somewhere else so I can come back

My 94 year old mother and I had Sunday last 2 weeks ago for the first time. It was a car very, there was a choice of pork or beef. I had beef and my mother had pork. The meat was tender and  delicious. There was a large choice of vegetables including roast potatoes and parsnips. The gravy was again delicious and not granules, We both had home made trifle and a cup of tea..Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, there was a friendly atmosphere even though it was our first visit, my mum said as we were eating our lunch “shall we book for next week?”.We did go again on Sunday 25th and again it was excellent. Looks like we will be regular visitors.

We had Sunny Dinner on 11th August, we was made to feel welcome was shown straight to our table and waitress came straight  way and asked did we want starters and informed us to help ourselves to main meal which was like a carvery style the food was hot and well cooked limited dessert but nice all the same i would definitely ca recommend this place well worth the   money we will definitely call again ❤

Sunday Dinner 

Lovely little pub. Long wait for lunch (45 mins after ordering) I had the Devon blue burger which was homemade and succulent. Another issue was other people having to chase the veg and gravy for their roast. It seems that the locals at the bar area had the attention of the staff that little bit more than the visitors eating 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ I WOULD return and do recommend

Nice food but a bit of a wait

Good selection of beer, a nice atmosphere and good pub grub: the pies are particularly good. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere with good service. A pleasant, warm place to take shelter after a bracing walk on the moor.
