Really enjoyed staying here once i had managed to get in through electric gates
Room was fabulous huge and very comfortable.
House was old and full of interesting things. Lovely breakfast and interesting owner. Lovely to talk too

Quirky

Wonderful hospitality can't do enough for you. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel welcome. Tucked into a small part of Devon is this beautiful place. Would I recommend... absolutely for a complete getaway in the calm and tranquil Devon countryside. I hope I get a chance to return

If you are looking for a place to stay near Exeter,you need to check out Culm Vale first to see if it is available as this place is fabulous. You get a warm welcome ,a large comfortable room,shared bathroom which just adds to the charm, and a plentiful and tasty breakfast.
This place is definitely on the return list.

Old fashioned charm.

Lovely large house with huge bedroom - shared a bathroom but that did not cause any dramas. Great cooked breakfast. Friendly and helpful owners.
If arriving by car then drive up to the gate which will open automatically.

good place to break the journey between West Country and rest of UK

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Culm Vale, a beautiful Victorian family home.  The furnishings and family history were really interesting.  Rebecca, our host, was so friendly and knowledgeable about the area and suggested two great places to have dinner  - Stoke Canon Pub and Ruffwell Inn.
The location is excellent for day trips.  We drove to Tintagel and Penzance one day, and to Dartmoor National Park and Teignmouth along the coast the next day.  We'd definitely recommend Culm Vale as a holiday home away from home.

Beautiful Country Home!

The place looks lovely on arrival. Richard saw us in as owners had just gone out. We were to stay one night in the pink room. A surprise arranged by my daughter. We were sadly not impressed by the cleanliness of the room. Sheets old and marked. Dressing table dirty. Whilst  deciding whether to stay or not decided to make cup of tea. Cup was dirty. Tv didn't seem to have any sign of DVDs player as advertised so enquirers. Told nothing could be done about it. Tried to get rid of enormous bee out window but it wouldn't open. Put it out bathroom one instead only to find two more in bedroom on our return. We left without staying the night.

Not very clean

Last minute booking and we won’t need to that again, as we will definitely be back. The owner was really helpful in accommodating our group. Comfortable rooms in a Victorian Country House and a breakfast of quality ingredients
