Minimal services and amenities at the property aka The Clarendon Hotel. No staff available on site so if you’re ok dealing with ALEXA you’ll be ok. There was no housekeeping nor did they provide clean towels. Could have sworn that I booked this in Canadian dollars via Expedia.ca. But they charged GBP - caveat emptor!!! I will definitely be following up with Expedia on what I perceive to be a ‘Bait and Switch’. Best advice I could give is to avoid this property unless you are looking for above average spaciousness with very poor services and amenities.

We have booked this hotel for our tour from north to south. So we only want to stay the night. On our arrival we meet with a old drunken lady who's screems barefoot! A little shocked of her approoch we set our thoughts aside and go only for the bed. As a surprise, our room was not prepared and we have considered to go for another hotel but still stayed because we had already paid and we were to broken to go look for another hotel. The room was prepared by her brother in law and sister because she wasn't able to stand on her feet. At the end of our stay we have to pay with creditcard because she says she hasn't received our payment from the pre-book. When I contacted her with email later on she mentioned that we get our to much payed booking money back. But still nothing from her again. For us we call it the Hounted House!!! 

Never again!!! 

Booked for two nights through booking.com with freecancellation. Plans changed and I cancelled the reservation. The card I used to make reservation with pre-authorisation only was debited despite confirmation of free cancellation. I have phoned the hotel 20+ times with no answer, left voicemail messages and have sent emails with no reply. The issue is now being investigated by booking.com. They inform me they have tried to contact the hotel also with no reply. It has been a month now with no resolution. Do not trust this hotel with your card details. Criminals.

Hotel owes me money, has not answered my calls or emails.

Stayed here for one night with my husband and our dog.  Was given a downstairs room with a door leading out into the back garden which suited us fine with the dog. We were also able to park our car in the back garden which was handy.  The room was a reasonable size but I was not impressed with the cobwebs hanging from the light fitting and the dust hanging over the edge of the cornicing.  The shower could also have done with a good clean, particularly to the rubber band along the bottom.  I'm afraid I could not use the shower because of it.  No soap.  Biscuits were well past their best before date.  And only 2 teabags?  It was ok but can't see us returning.

Pet friendly but not particularly human friendly

Unless you’re a glutton for punishment, don’t stay at this B&B. We tried calling the hotel several times to find a convenient time to check in - no one answered. We arrived, rang the bell. No answer. After phoning some more and knocking on the door for a while, a clearly super-drunk woman answered. It was evident she’s urinated on herself. “Three!” she blurted out, and handed us a key. That was our only greeting. Had we the option to pack our bags and move somewhere else we would have taken it, but it was the only accommodation we could find in Dundee that would accept a dog. 

A few hours later some another woman used a key to let herself into our room. Seeing us, she apologised and excused herself, saying that she thought the room was empty. We assumed she works there. 

The following afternoon, we were startled by the same rattle of someone using a key to get into our room. I answered the door. It was the drunk woman (still drunk) trying to get a key in the door. Behind her were two guests with their suitcases. Perhaps they too had been greeted with “Three!”

The bedroom is big and generally clean, the exceptions being under the bed, under the sofa and on top of the wardrobe (we’d put our cases up there to keep them out of the way - when we pulled them down, they were covered in thick dust). 

All this just goes to show that you should always read TripAdvisor reviews before you book.

Don’t go there!!

Having travelled 7 hours to reach this hotel I was greeted by an extremely drunk woman who I identified as the landlady. She had no idea what time of day it was, she was aggressive and had no record of my booking. To make matters worse she was completely naked from the waist down and was oblivious to this fact.  When I questioned what she expected me to do - having travelled all that way and paid for a room in advance she told me to "go home". Quite frankly, I no longer wanted to stay in her B&B and needless to say, I found alternative accommodation that night! It was an experience! A terrible one!

Awful!

The haunted house in real live! When you come new to the hotel, the first thing you is that nobody is there to welcome you. We have stayed there for one night and get there by 8:00 pm and our room wasn't clean, that's after we had a confrontation with the owner that was not capable to stand on her own feets. The shower was not working, besides our own thoughts were get as sleep and no breakfast and as soon as possible get away from this place. Next morning as we want to check out there wasn't anybody at all. After a half hour when I began to lose my patience I come with an idea to ring the front door bell as many times needed the wake the drunken witch. And my actions were affective, the lady showed herself. With a smell of a fine spirit 😜! The atm had no connection with internet the same as in the room by the way. So we paid by cash, she had no idea what the costs were of the room we had booked. We booked by credit card and she had the authority to collect the money also by the card as well. So we have paid twice, we tried to get contact by phone and by email. The Grampian does not respond to any at all. So you been warned the stay at THE GRAMPIAN in Dundee.

Very warm welcome on arrival and nothing was  too much trouble. Our dog was made very welcome too!
