Spent a couple of nights in Uffculme and visited the pub both nights. 
Lovely locals pub - no food but great beer and social atmosphere.
Pub is under threat of closure (landlord retiring and selling up) and need all the support they can get to survive.

Found this lovely place on our way back to Cornwall. Friendly welcome, outstanding food, the best quality ales and all in a traditional independent pub. A menu individual of the usual corporate microwave food actually made and cooked by the excellent chef on the premises. Landlord was front and centre of the establishment and the chef came out to check if we were enjoying the food. Definitely be back

Search this place out. Well worth a visit

Stayed here for a night on the way home to Cornwall. Basic accommodation but comfortable and tea and coffee in your room. Staff are very good and will help you with anything. Had a meal in the evening which I can only describe as amazing. beautifully cooked and presented. Well recommended.

Lovely place

Rather than offer my thoughts I'll tell the story and let you make your own decision on how they operate...

We booked two rooms to visit family for a big family gathering.  The day before, one couple came down with Covid and as myself and my partner had been in close proximity we thought it best not to travel and risk their staff and other guests, so decided to cancel both rooms. 

I called up to ask if we would face a cancellation fee. The bar manager wasn't sure as there could be a fee if cancelled within 24 hours of check in (we were 22 hours away so expected there might be but we needed to know as if there was we could offer the rooms to another family member instead of cancelling) He said he would speak to the manger and ring me back. An hour later he called back and said there would be no cancellation fee and I should just cancel it via booking.com. Excellent, we thought. We did so. As soon as we did we received an email saying we would be charged £100 cancellation fee. 

So I immediately called back and spoke to the bar manager again. When i said we had been charged his attitude changed. He said "sorry, that's nothing to do with us - that's booking.com's terms and conditions" I replied that he had explicitly told me there would be no fee, and booking.com are their agent so aren't going to keep the money as it would go straight to them!! He conceded this was true. So I asked, that being the case surely it's down to your goodwill to refund us if what you promised is true. He said sorry we can't do that. So I said to him "You told me that there would be no fee. If i had known this I wouldn't have cancelled, I would have offered it to another family member" He went off the phone to speak to his manager. After a couple of minutes he came back and said "Ok, if you find a family member for one of the rooms (effectively what we had been charged - 50%) our fee would cover this.

So, I speak to a family member who was happy to take on the room as it had no cost and was prepared to cancel her other arrangements. Happy days.

Two hours later, I call back to give the bar manager the name change. He put me straight over to the manager. The manager refused unless I paid for the room again!!! He said that as booking.com hadn't sent any money to him yet my family member can't have it. I tried to reason with him that as their agent, and with my email proof of payment, its only a matter of time before booking.com pay up but he steadfastedly refused to honour what I was promised! After a heavy debate he agreed to ring booking.com in the morning. I told him that I would need to know by midday as my cousin and her daughter would need to know. He said he would let me know.

The next day myself and my cousin tried to ring on six occasions in the morning. No-one picked up. by 1 O'clock still nothing. As a result my cousin lost her original booking too, as she hadn't confirmed it and they had resold it. So now she was stuck with nowhere to stay.

They took my £100 and I haven't heard a thing from them since. 

I was misled, charged, lied too and then ignored.

Never again.

Misled and let down

Lovely proper pub/B&B that had a restaurant, everyone was friendly, stayed overnight on our way cornwall. The room was clean and comfortable, the only thing missing was a mirror in bedroom but not knocking a star off for that. Had a lovely pub garden.

We came for dinner here on Christmas Eve. The food was actually incredible. Had the T-bone steak which I fully recommend. Really friendly staff and great atmosphere. They also have a bunch of nice ales on tap. Had a real laugh here. Thanks for a lovely evening 🤙🏼

Great atmosphere and amazing steak

We booked this as an overnight stay on the way to Cornwall,we arrived at 2pm but found that from September it doesn't open until the evening. It didn't matter though.  I was concerned because it looked run down and in desperate need of a coat of paint and good clean on the outside.
We arrived back at 10.30 to a very warm welcome, the pub was quite busy and there was a nice atmosphere. 
We were showed up to the room via the most unattractive corridor and stairwell. They have obviously given no thought to first impressions, I can't describe how grim it was.
The room was a good size with TV, coffee, tea etc. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was very good and the bathroom clean. The decor needed a lot of work.
If you want a clean room for £40 this is great, just be aware that getting to the room is certainly an experience. 

Not sure what to say!

We stayed here on way to Cornwall.  For price £40 could not complain at all . If you are expecting 5 star do not stay here . You get what you pay on the tin a very basic room with clean bedding . Must say a great selection of tea and coffee.  Pub was open to late and but we were not affected by this . 
There was no food at the pub so be warned in advance about this . This did not matter to us as I had called up in advance and knew about this so had organised to book up across the road at The George.  For breakfast we went to no.11 across quaternary which do a lovely breakfast. 
There is no car park but didn't have a problem with this.

Good sleep

The pub was a bit rundown but too be expected as it is quite old, the room was not the worst that we have stayed in the bedding was clean,but just a bit of maintenance was needed all over but for £40 nothing to really complain about, except it would have been niece to have had breakfast for a little bit extra but the paperwork said there was no kitchen so no food but not a problem.


Overnight stay 

Accommodation needs updating. The rooms were quite small , it was very hot and the windows could not be opened.
The beds were very uncomfortable.
There was No breakfast  or meals available and we would not stay there again.
