The Travelodge at Chester-Le-Street was so easy to find and was the perfect location for visiting our family in Durham - and there was lots of parking space. The staff were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful - e.g. we asked for extra pillows and they provided them within a minute of us asking. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. Congratulations to the manager and his team, they were exemplary - we'll definitely return and have already recommended other family members and friends.

A good choice; Chester-Le-Street.

Good value weekend stay. Hotel and rooms were clean & comfortable. Friendly, helpful, efficient staff. Very easy parking. Fantastic attached restaurant. Location ideal for visiting Beamish. Hotel was quiet and set in a very nice location.

Good value & friendly

Great location for all local areas. Durham and Chester le Street and Newcastle just a short distance.
Lovely place to stay. Room was very spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. TV hairdryer electric fan for those hot days and nights. Although we had a room right next to a very busy road we never heard any traffic noise. Staff were very welcoming and made our stay perfect. Oh and plenty free  parking bays. 
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

A Little gem of a Travel Lodge

We were welcomed at reception by Kris who was very friendly, our room was clean and comfortable and cosy  with complementary tea and coffee, there is extras available at reception if needed, the bed was extremely comfortable with additional pillows if required, the en suite was nice with nice white towels but toiletries could be better so take your own. We were offered a breakfast box which we declined but we could have gone to the Church Mouse which is adjoining but this place isn’t run by Travelodge. Would definitely return

Very nice Travelodge

The travel lodge is convenient for Durham and also for Tyneside. Although on a main road it is set back so is quiet . The rooms are warm and you can control the heating and open a window if required. The bed is comfortable and there is a good TV and kettle. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It has an added advantage of a good quality restaurant adjoining

Friendly and convenient

The room was perfectly clean, exactly as expected and as I have experienced previously in other travelodge hotel rooms. The bathroom was also completely clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and there was plenty of space. The staff on reception were very friendly, I would definitely stay again.

Perfect, great value, would stay again.

Disinterested staff , very poor in terms of upkeep , shower floor dangerously slippery , shower temperature unpredictable to the point of scalding hot. First room smelt strongly of sick , begrudgingly swapped the room with some annoyance , not impressed at all I'm afraid ....

Poor , very much needs a makeover

Ideally situated between Durham City and Chester-le-Street. Warm and professional welcome from receptionist. Easy access to ground floor room that was spotlessly clean. Bathroom immaculate, bed very comfortable. Will definitely return.

Just the ticket!

This was a last minute booking on the day. At first I was a bit concerned when I saw the tiny reception and was handed a key rather than a keycard. Thoughts of very old and run down rooms came into my head but thankfully there was no need to worry. The rooms have obviously had a recent refresh and the carpets looked brand new. Bit of an odd room layout, not your typical TL but still very comfortable and clean. The best part for me was the direct connection to the Church Mouse next door where I could pick up drinks and food to take to the room. You can of course sit in there and eat or have a drink. If you time it right you can sit in front of the real flame fire. No shops nearby so do make sure you stock up ob essentials before you go there. Breakfast wise there’s just the Breakfast boxes but they do provide a list of local breakfast options at reception. So another big thumbs up to TL, will definitely come again! 😊

Last Minute Stay

Easy to book, easy to find. Friendly/ helpful welcome. Access the Church Mouse through door of Travel lodge, no matter the weather. Very comfortable, clean room. Bed n pillows really comfortable. Only downfall for me was no bath but didn't take away the experience.
