The room had potential to be really nice.It's modern with nice facilities, but it was sadly very dirty, floors and furniture very dusty, badly in need of a proper clean. When you got onto the bed after walking on the floor, all of the dust and hairs gathered on the bed!The mirror was filthy, you couldn't see in it.We also didn't know (as it's not shown anywhere on the booking or explained when you book) that not everyone stays in the actual hotel building, Like us, we checked in and had to stay in a place a road or two down, so not onsite. So that was a shame.

If it was clean, it would have been much better.

Stopped here just for one night, I would definitely stay again. Nice room, lovely view and staff all very friendly. Appledore a good place to use as a base to explore the area. We'll be back.

Waterfront hotel with sea views. Friendly, efficient service and warm welcome. Will definitely stay again.

Great greeting and room well equipped but otherwise average. Food average as was the service of this.  A mixed bag but perhaps reflected in the price!

The Seagate was on the estuary in lovely Appledore. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We stayed here before and after a trip to Lundy. The first night was in room7 which was spacious and you could just about see the sea. The second night in room 9 which had a completely frosted window and was small. The pub food was good. I particularly liked the ceasar salad . Would return.

The best thing was the excellent breakfast.
The lukewarm shower was disappointing and the room was attractive but rather cold. One or two staff didn't seem very well-informed or responsive, e.g. we waited at least ten minutes for someone to check us in, the person we asked about packed lunches seemed very unsure about whether they could be provided, the same person didn't seem to know what to say about the shower, the special menu which we were given and which we chose from turned out not to be available the day we were there. Nothing serious, but could just have been a bit more attentive.

Excellent stay over weekend. The staff couldn't have been more helpful - it was a busy restaurant both nights but we were treated very well and the food was delicious! We joined Pete's first quiz night which was great fun too. Michelle couldn't have been more helpful.

Great Sunday roast and excellent service from staff!

Quite well appointed, if small, rooms. Position on a busy sea front is good as well as private parking area. 
Cool showers, which couldn’t be warmed. Their excuse was that they’ve  known about this issue for a while but NOT sorry! 
Position tries to justify the higher price but not worth it.
