We were welcomed by Liz upon our arrival & shown around their lovely home, full of artifacts from around the world.  Tastefully decorated with care taken on the smallest of things. Very comfortable room (no 1) with the usual tea/coffee, but added extras like fresh milk/water/sweets/fruit teas/biscuits.  The bed was one of the best we have slept in & extremely quiet.  The view from the window is amazing, such a lovely location and quite a hidden gem.  The locally sourced breakfasts were very tasty, with an array of cereals/nuts/fruits which, again, were delicious. Chris has a huge collection of rough and uncut gemstones, which were a delight to see, along with a few Roman finds. Both Liz and Chris were very attentive & nothing was too much trouble.  we would highly recommend Slack Cottage for getting out and about in the Lakes.

Hidden Gem

We needed a quiet relaxing break so decided to go to the Lake District as neither  of us had been before, we booked Slack Cottage as it looked perfect for what we needed and we were definitely not disappointed. It started with the most loveliest of welcomes from the cottage owners, Chris & Liz who showed us to our lovely room which overlooked Lake Windermere , each day was started with a beautiful breakfast cooked by Liz and served to us by Chris, perfect hosts and so helpful to us by recommending the most beautiful places to visit. We couldn’t have asked for anything more for our lovely 4 night stay there, we will definitely return, Thankyou so much Chris & Liz.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location 

Beautiful cottage in lovely location. The view of the lake and mountains are amazing. Daisy and I enjoyed our stay very much. Chris and Liz lovely hosts. The September weather typical of the lakes, alittle rain.

Chris and liz were excellent hosts, excellent breakfast,  superb location and views, beautiful clean room and very comfortable bed, lovely gardens to sit in, beautiful home, exceptional bed and breakfast

It was like being at home, breakfast choices were excellent , superb shower and very comfortable room. The views of Windmere are the best and there is access to the Lake via the private garden you couldn't ask for more a great spot to unwind

As good as it gets - secluded spot 

Thank you Liz & Chris for a magical 3 night wedding anniversary stay. Beautiful location, hearty breakfast that set you up for the day & a garden full of colour. Returning home after a day of walking to a glass of sherry & the twilight bird chorus, the end to another perfect day. You have been wonderful hosts, we look forward to our next visit.

Magical

Just stayed 2 nights at Slack Cottage.  Everywhere was lovely and clean.  Breakfast was amazing and our host couldnt of been nicer. Stunning view from our bedroom window.  Would highly recommend and we will definitely be going back 

Slack Cottage 

We spent the most wonderful 3 days at Slack cottage.  Chris and Liz were amazing hosts and very knowledgeable of the area. They are the type of couple that we would love to have sat for an afternoon with a cuppa and listen to their amazing stories.   
The lake is a short walk from the cottage following the garden path. We walked a total of 7 hours seeing the beautiful sights that the lake had to offer. All without using the car. 
The room had a stunning view of the lake and was so quiet. The bed was very comfortable. Hot beverages were in our room as well as biscuits. Breakfast in the morning was cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit and seeds, full English or continental. We opted for the full English and it didn't disappoint.  This cottage is situated in a beautiful quiet area , the reason why we picked it. Ambleside is situated a short car ride away. 
We will definitely go back to visit this wonderful cottage and all that it offers.

Perfect!

Excellent hosts, great breakfast, very welcoming and top notch hospitality.
Liz made us feel very welcome upon check in, and showered us to our room which was very well decorated with amazing views over Windermere.
Such a great location with lots of walks in the area away from the hustle and bustle but all within east reach to Hawkshead and Ambleside if that’s what you want.
Thanks Liz & Chris, we’ll definitely return one weekend.

Excellent Hosts, Brilliant Hospitality

We’ve just spent a lovely, relaxing couple of days at Slack Cottage. Beautiful scenery and Liz and Chris were perfect hosts. A little off the beaten track but well worth the trek. The bed was comfortable and our room had a stunning view. Breakfast options were good and tasty. Highly recommended.
