Normal hotel, don't afraid after reading other remarks) we stayed here for one night for visiting Sofievka, nice birds singing, breakfast was ok, not very far from city center, however sometimes makes impression of real fortress (name of hotel in Ukrainian), but it's ok

Normal hotel for this price

I stayed here for business two nights.  The heat index was 89 F and there is no AC and no fan.  Since the window needs to be open, I get to listen to all of the neighborhood dogs barking continuously all night long. The room is a brick box with one small corner window - I'm reminded of a prison cell.  There are no chairs, only short, backless stools to sit on.  The bed is a thin foam mattress directly on a sheet of plywood.  The desk staff does not speak English, so my business hosts got me checked in but I hope I don't need anything else.  The location is in town, but down a long hill at the end of a dead end road in a residential neighborhood - I'd love to get a bottle of water (since they don't recommend drinking the tap water) but the closest store or gas station is at least a half mile away up a steep hill.  There is a restaurant, but no English menus or English speaking servers.  I had two beers and went back to my room.
On the up side.  There is free wireless internet with a good connection.  The room, the bathroom, and the motel building were all very clean.  There were towels, TP, and soap and shampoo in the bathroom.  There are at least 4 outlets in the room and another one in the bathroom,  A breakfast is included (see pictures) but it will likely be different than what you would expect. The room cost about $30 for the two nights, so it was still a good value.
I'd freely admit I'm not their target market, and I'm not complaining as much as just preparing other Americans before they come.

Roughing it (if you are used to U.S. motels).

We arrived to Uman in not too late evening, but after dark, and spent about half an hour roaming around trying to find the place with the use of both google maps and Yandex. To no avail. We finally turned back to the main road and at the gas station found a sign: Hotel Fortetsia. Hurray! When we came there we found a hotel but it did not say "Fortetsia", it just said "Hotel". That's it. We were greeted by two young ladies who stopped watching TV to give us the keys. "Yes, the restaurant is open, and it's on the second floor". We were very hungry and went there. We made our orders: borsch, chicken-kiev... and a shot of horilka (vodka), please. What happened next was the most surprising: the bar is closed. So, you'll get your food, but no horilka, no tea and even no water. The bar is closed, OK? While they were preparing our dinner we went to a 24-hour grocery and bought the drinks. Then we came back and had a fantastic dinner. That's an old soviet hotel remodeled, or a new hotel built by people who did not see anything but soviet hotels in their lives. I had two huge rooms. My friend had two rooms and a contrast shower for two; quite amazing. Wifi worked ok. The breakfast was terrible with no asking what would you like or even a menu. You come in and sit down, and they ask what room you are at and bring you two fried eggs sunny side up and a sausage. That's it.

You were lucky if you find it

It is regular soviet hotel, but re-styled a bit. Russian word "жлобство" says it all.

breakfast is free, including coffee, but you need to pay for milk if you prefer coffee with milk, 
hotel has WIFI, but you need to buy a card to use it,
shower was dirty, without hot water,
room was dark

Hopefully we stayed only for one night.

Regular Ukrainian service

Stayed there twice on the way from Kyiv to Odessa. Good chance to see Sofievsky park which is great. All is average but this is good for such small ukrainian town. Parking is in the hotel. Food is very funny and cheap(but ok). In big cities you never meet such restaurants.
In general - satisfied. If I get to Uman again will stay in this hotel.
Fortecya means castle so they tried to make relevant style.
