A beautiful villa, directly on a white sand beach.

All bedrooms are spacious & have an ensuite. There is plenty of space for everyone to sleep, sit & relax comfortably. Thoughtful touches throughout - bug spray & safe in all rooms, sea shoes, beach toys, paddle board.

The staff made our stay incredibly special - we felt taken care of at all times & they were very responsive over Whatsapp if we had any questions/needs. They went above & beyond to make a birthday extra memorable. 

Chef Simanzi was so kind & cooked amazing feast-style meals for us - delicious & great value, highly recommend.

unforgettable stay

We would highly recommend Maji Lodge as a place to stay in Zanzibar. Caren, Simanzi and the wonderful team made our trip special in so many ways from a seafood bbq, sourcing a birthday cake to creating beautiful arches for a birthday breakfast. We’ve had a trip of a lifetime and would go back to Maji Lodge in a heartbeat.

A truly magical place

A charming house right next to the beach was a wonderful vacation spot for us for two weeks. Natalia organized interesting trips for us to other parts of the island. Near the house there are many pubs with very good food and a kite surfing school. The swimming pool in the garden allowed us to cool down on hot days. Natalia is a wonderful and very nice host who can help in any situation.

The best place to relax in Zanzibar

Best Beach House ever! Perfect location directly on the white sand in a lovely town. Space living room and huge rooms with own bathrooms. The owner and service stuff is just amazing, they make your step unforgettable. You are always save!

Best Beach Villa 🍀🌴🇹🇿

We stayed 9 nights and had a wonderful time.  The home is very well decorated, maintained, and is very spacious.  The backyard garden is immaculate with flowers everywhere, outdoor dining area, seating in various areas (ie whether sunny or rainy  or windy or calm there is a beautiful spot to relax).  There are plenty of restaurants in walking distance, and you can swim/snorkle directly from the house.  

I would *highly* recomend the chef.  We only booked him a couple nights but ended up having him come 7 of 9 nights and loved every meal!

Natalia (proprietor) can help you arrange proper day trips or you can do it yourself.  We did the Mbeka (sp?) snorkling, "swim with dolphins", and "stone town + prison island".  All were great.  I was very skeptical that "swim with dolphins" would actually find dolphins in the open waters...  But damn if they didn't... They found a school of ~50 dolphins in open water, pulled the boat in front of them, our family (2 adults + 3 kids) dove in (just snorkles), and were able to swim down as a massive school of wild dolphins (including a mom and baby - sooooo cute) swam by.  Amazing.

All in all a wonderful experience!

Beautiful home on Gorgeous Beach

I would highly recommend staying at Maji Lodge. Rooms are comfortable and clean, breakfast is delicious, staff is friendly and helpful. There is a beautiful garden and a terrace from which you can see the ocean and there is direct access to a beautiful beach.

Beautiful place next to the beach

Amazing place, amazing location! Really enjoyed the stay here.  The staff and host Natalia were always avaliable.  They have truly thought of everything to make your stay awesome.

Loads of nice places to eat a few minutes walk in either direction on the beach.

Very quiet and relaxed, I'd advise to hiring a car so you can see the island.

Great Experience

Myself, and 7 other  friends stayed at the villa for 10 nights. It is beautifully decorated and spacious.  Matemwe is a calm and relaxing area, however, you are not far from the busier areas such a Nungwi or Kendwa. 

Natalia is an amazing host and ensured that there were always drinks available in the fridge and sorted any problems that ensued quickly. She even sourced a 21st birthday cake for my sister and arranged a lovely beach bonfire BBQ. Natalia will also put you in touch with a wholesaler for any and all produce you could require.  

We used the services of the chef on 2 occasions and had some of the best food of the entire trip prepared for us. Our group was a mixture of vegetarian/meat/fish eaters and he was able to accommodate all of us and any food request we had! Ask to try his version of a Zanzibar pizza, it is delicious! 

The entire stay exceeded our expectations, from the ordering of food for the kitchen the availability of drinks at the property (for a more than reasonable amount), to the chef services, to the lovely housekeeper who tidied and cleaned up after us, the beautiful property and of course the outstanding hospitality. The entire group was sad to be leaving and we will definitely be back in the future!

A beautiful beach front property

Maji lodge is situated on one of Zanzibars most beautiful beaches. Metemwe is the perfect mix of authentic zanzibar culture and the most beautiful beaches. The becah changes from low to hide tide,revealing beauty and culture from the locals that frequent it. 

The lodge is clean, well furnished and comfortable. Natalia has thought of the smallest detail making the stay so easy! The view from the deck just amazing! 

Breakfast is freshly made by the best chef in Metemwe!
We loved that the kitchen was available for our own use. We could heat our own meals or just make a cup of tea. 

Natalia and Mboka went out of their way to accommodate us. Booking activities with them was simple. The rest of the staff was  happy, helpful and always smiling. 

At departure we felt like part of the family, and were sad to say goodbye. 

We would recommend this to everyone who wants to experience Zanzibar at its best.

Our happy place!

We found the maji lodge really by fate. Natalia and Michael created this cozy little hideaway by the beach. We had the most wonderful three days in Matemwe. Great service, yummy breakfast, beautiful rooms. Thank you Natalia and Michael to be such great hosts!
