Like everywhere, I asked for juice without water and sugar. 
The bartender told me “Girl, if I will make it without water, you will pay 1000, understudied?” 
I had a shock because of tone of his voice, then I told him “in another places it’s no problem.”. He had an answer for me: “so, go to another places” 
It was just disgusting, so unfriendly staff so hard to meet in Hikkaduwa! 
People like this disgusting bartender don’t have to make a business. The service like this don’t have to be accepted. 
Don’t come to worst bar ever, save your mood and positive vibe instead!!!

The worst service ever!!!

Rooms and day staff are nice, food is average, HOWEVER come the evening hotel becomes a very loud nightclub with staff only interested getting as many people from outside into the bar as possible and concern for their paying guests. Music and shouting can be heard in every room in the hotel,  often not  quietening down till sunrise at 5:30am.  Drugs are rife in the bar are, hence why there is not control of the young bar-staff or visitors.

Complained to manager, but made no difference as it went on louder and later the day after, as if to prove a point. 

Sri Lanka is a very big island, requiring early starts if you want to see wildlife, temples etc. I had 3 trips ruined, as we had to be out by 6:30, and we’re not able to sleep until 5:30 because of the noise. 

Don’t get me wrong, I like a night out but, you should be able to have a night off if you want to.

Go there for a night out, just whatever you do, don’t stay at the hotel if you expect any sleep during your stay.

Avoid at all costs!

Beautiful experience.  Comfortable rooms and Beautiful sea view rooms. 
Restaurant and bar is amazing, good food and restaurant get busy in the evening. 

Recommended to stay and experience their foods and services. Really friendly staff and really welcoming, makes you feel like home.

Made a bit of a mistake booking here. I wanted a nice room, and it was nice, but far too expensive for what it was. However funky is a bit of a party place, it is loud till the early hours, on both nights lots of corridor shouting and banging, big groups of guys hanging out. Breakfast was bad, didn’t try any other food. Staff were friendly enough but wouldn’t go back.

Nice place to stop & have a lunch after swimming in the ocean! Cool place run by nice young people. Good food, good drinks. Varför måste man skriva 200 karaktärer detta är ingen tidningsartikel hallå.

Run by a euro still using plastic straws. No good chairs for sunbathing. Super cute place though. Friendly staff. Food looks good didn’t see the rooms. In this day and age there needs to be more awareness for the environment

The rooms are great for the price you pay.  They may be a bit noisy from the bar in peak season but the standard of the rooms are high.  Had a slight problem with hot water in the shower but was promptly fixed.  The manager and staff are very friendly.  Well recommended.

Great place, friendly staff

My 2nd visit to this place as i had fallen in love with its aura, absolute beach life feel and finger licking sri lankan curry. An absolute delish. Rooms are amazing with beach view so are the people at funky. Saya goes out of way to help out the visitors staying even if it is beyond hotel and restaurant services. Kudos to this place and people like saya who make it in everyway the most ideal place to stay in Hikka.

Best Place in Hikkaduwa

Lovely place in front of the ocean and of the main surf breaks of Hikkaduwa! Big and bight clean rooms. Beautiful bathroom, big comfy bed. Everything is very nice and nothing is missing. The owners of this hotel + bar/restaurant are a beautiful family and they make you feel very welcome... and I love listening to reggae while having breakfast in front of the ocean... Thank you again for having me! See you again... Keri

Wonderful!

Gorgeous spot and a great place to sit and have a few beers and watch the surfers. Great music - lots of reggae with a good atmosphere. We ate here once and the food was ok but really you are coming for the vibe, view and really friendly bar staff!
