Lovely hotel, lots of beautiful wood. Very helpful staff who speak English well. Room was very clean and had a balcony where we could watch the sea and the sunset over the garrison with the canons. Superb location right in Galle fort perfect for exploring.

Great location

We spent 2 nights here in 2 rooms and were very happy. The family live downstairs and the front door is always open to the street, however upstairs is a haven of peace. Hosts are welcoming and speak good English. Highly recommended 

Calm and peaceful 

Galle Fort is one place where history and culture meet in the best possible way. We definitely wanted to stay at Galle Fort and soak in the history and breathtaking views the place has to offer. Fort De 19 Villa turned out to be a pleasant surprise, as we did not have a big budget to splurge. The villa is close to the Rampart Area of the fort thus making it closer to popular watering holes like Peddlars. You should also try the Popular Kothu Parota from the Military Welfare stall near the villa. The bed was very cozy and the room had an old world aura to it....the Balcony with tiled seat is one of the most unique bits we've seen in our travels across many countries.
A TV in the room and better water pressure would surely be appreciated. Thikshana hosted us pretty well never making us feel out of place. 

A Pleasant VFM Surprise

We were pleasantly surprised by this place, as it was a last-minute addition our initial choice cancelled our reservation. The family who runs Fort de 19 is very welcoming and friendly, and although didn't need too much assistance, they seemed happy to help if we did. The room was spacious, and the balcony was a nice place to drink tea in the morning. Bed and bathroom were serviceable, A/C and fan kept the room a nice temperature, and we found everything we needed in the room (outlets, kettle, etc.). The location is excellent, only a 15 minute walk to the opposite corner of the Fort (the lighthouse), with most of the good restaurants, shops, and vistas more like 5-10 minutes away.

· One of the few premises in the fort that can have the sunset view on terrace.
Me and my parents lived in the rooftop room with terrace, which was unexpectedly spacious.
The family that run the hotel lives downstairs, they are such a perfect host.

The day we checked in, The Attack happened, we watched the news in their living room and experienced the incident together. It was a curfew the first night. And Galle fort was empty the second day.

Perfect budget hotel inside of the Fort and perfoct location for sunset

This was our favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka. Excellent location, close to shops and restaurants but very quiet with views over the green and close to the sea. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful, without being over the top. Comfortable rooms, very clean. Highly recommend!

Outstanding guest house

Amazing sunset view from balcony.  clean, friendly and helpful.  Plenty of restaurants at your door step.  We were on the top floor where the stairs were quite steep but no real problem as they carried our luggage to our room

Perfect location

Nice family, spacious room with air con and ceiling fan. As mentioned before , the room with the balcony gives lovely views over to the grassy embankment of the rampart, where youths play cricket in the evening.
No real entrance area as such- more walking through the family lounge, which didn’t feel ideal. 
The fact that breakfast wasn’t available was not an issue, as there are numerous local eateries, the nearest being around 40 m away. 
The position of the house is perfect- west facing, close enough to sights and shops to be easy, nice breeze as close to the ocean, but far enough from the bustle to be peaceful .

Nice room with a great balcony . Location superb

We stayed here for one night recently, and the hotel is in a great location within the fort - away from the busy areas of fort, but within a few minutes walk.  The hotel is also west facing, which meant a short walk to see the sunset from the fort walls, and right outside on the green you could watch the local kids playing cricket as the sun goes down!  The owner and his family were very friendly and helful, and our room had pretty much everything we needed, including a balcony.  Breakfast is not provided but there are plenty of cafes and restaurants a short walk away.
