This place is like a haunted house. Poor lighting and insects crawling everywhere. The bathroom also needs refurbishment. We planned to stay for 3 nights at Laura, but left on the first night and stayed in a different hotel. A place to avoid!!

Hotel awful experience

Stayed here for 1 night and wish we stayed longer. View from our room was amazing, lovely spot to sit and relax. Family run business, owners were very friendly and accomodating. Highly recommend staying here. Welcome drink and breakfast were yummy.

Loved everything!

Very nice place,,i was going with my familly  2022 junuwary ,so nice viwe of ella mountain ,,even little  adam peak very near to that hotel,,very nice elder  mum and her husbend  regard us,
         Kital alla water falls and ella rock  infrot of of this hotel,,and i remember  badulla colombo  railway  some step down of this hotel,,one night  we are continue enjoy on accomadation of this hotel ,,very nice and very taste fridrice with fride chiken  made us from hotel that is very good  price 

Very nice moment with hotel 

2 night stay whilst visiting Ella to visit 9 arch bridge, Little Adams peak, Ravana Waterfall etc. Great family room. Huge, with a large King bed, and 2 singles. Large bathroom with Shower too. 
Downside - only one fan no aircon so it was warm... tricky at night when trying to sleep. 
Also bear in mind getting there as it is at the top of a super steep hill which many vehicles find it hard to reach. Easy to walk into Ella (8min walk downhill)  but a definite hot & sweaty return walk! 
Gorgeous views over the neighbouring countryside and hills. Plus the ability to 'hear' the famous train as that comes by. 
Lovely breakfast, in a very scenic spot. A little slow which was odd given it only has a handful of rooms but charming, just don't leave breakfast to just before you need to be anywhere!
Really pleasant out doors verandah space which was lovely to sit and enjoy. If you want a smaller guest house experience whilst in Ella which can be quite hectic, then don't look any further, this is really nice. 
My children would say the downside is there was no pool, but we seemed to get by and we did visit the waterfalls and swim there. 

Incredible views to enjoy over breakfast!

From all great hotels we have been to during our trip in Sri Lanka this hotel had by far the best view ever. View over the beautiful mountains . 

Nice restaurants nearby and the Hotel runs by the whiole family. Great people! Very idyllic room with extra  patio  overlooking the mountains.

Hotel Laura amazing view 

This has been definitely my favourite stay in Sri Lanka! The hotel is amazing, the view is stunning and the personnel was outstanding. The location is on another level. I had a separate room from the main block of the hotel, seems like a small apartment with balcony. 
The furniture of the room is cozy and very clean.

I’ll be back for sure in Ella and I’ll book here again.

ELLA STAY AT LAURA HOTEL

Such an amazing little guest house, at such a fabulous price. I cannot recommend Hotel Laura enough. 
The rooms have incredible views of both Ella Rock and Little Adam’s Peak (especially rooms 1 and 2). The room is big, clean and comfy. The breakfast was lovely and everyone who worked there that we interacted with was so lovely. 
It’s a short walk (via the railway) to the centre of Ella and close to everywhere you’d want to go. 
Few tips for anyone staying, make sure you have a torch on your phone if walking to or from the hotel at night and be careful of leaches on the railway.

Incredible little hotel

We stayed at the Laura Hotel twice and this stay was great!  Beautiful rooms with a beautiful view of Ella rock, and also a delicious breakfast with an amazing view, and of course the kind owners of this beautiful hotel!  We will definitely visit you again, thank you very much!

Amazing

It's just 15 minutes walk from the center and located in a peaceful location. 

Probably got the best view of the ella rock and mini adams peak 

The building it self is solid and well designed. Got 5 well appointed rooms. Room 1 and 2 got the best view. Followed by room 3 and 4.room number 5 is a family room and 4 guests can stay  but unfortunately it's in the basement and don't have a proper view like the other rooms.all rooms are spacious ,clean and well equipped with a TV,fan,kettle, hairdryer and so on .toilets were spacious and clean too.

This is a family run guest house and their food is home made ,fresh and tasty. Compared to the city restaurants their prices are reasonable too.

Garden was well maintained. Full of flowers and fruits 

Since our train back to colombo was at 0640am we checked out at 0600am and the family members woke up early to prepare our breakfast and lunch and to say goodbye. It was a big surprise and totally unexpected

There were minor drawbacks like breakfast service been on the slow side and coffee served at  breakfast been cold on both days. In the room there were issues regarding WiFi,TV channels, bedside table lamp socket,toilet bowl leak.also tea bags were not kept in one of the rooms and shampoo /body wash bottles were empty. Which were fixed upon request. Those were minor matters which can be forgiven and forgotten.

OVERALL I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HOTEL LAURA FOR A PEACEFUL HOLIDAY

Lovely little guest house 

A lovely welcome from the owners with a refreshing drink on arrival. 

We were given the choice of two rooms and opted for a room with the best view of a waterfall, Little Adams Peak and Ella Gap.

A perfect room with a comfy bed, lovely sofas to relax on, large bathroom with nice toiletries and rocking chairs on the balcony. 

We were shown the route to walk along the railway line into the town but on returning found ourselves confused as to where to go, fortunately a neighbour of Hotel Laura noticed our dilemma and offered assistance 🙂

Having been into the town, we decided that we'd rather eat at Hotel Laura. Wow! What can I say...... Probably one of the best authentic Sri Lankan meals cooked by Grandma and the following morning Grandma delivered a gorgeous breakfast.

Unfortunately,  our shower didn't have hot water when we wanted a shower after climbing Little Adams Peak however as soon as we mentioned it, they went above and beyond when it was dark (power had gone off) and raining to climb ladders onto the roof to fix the problem despite us saying not to worry. 

Hospitality and comfort in abundance. If you want to experience family life, I recommend that you stay and eat here.

We would not hesitate in returning to this lovely hotel and family who gave us a memorable experience.
