We were booked into this hotel for one night by a friend. The room allocated to us was ok, large, clean, tidy with a stunning view from the balcony. The balcony door however had no lock. Bathroom clean and tidy. 

The menu was extremely limited with virtually no choice on it. That said, what I did order for dinner was quite nice. They have no bar. 

The service was variable for the duration of our stay. Staff not remotely attentive. 

At around 4:00 am, we were woken by very loud Hindu music. It  prevented us from sleeping and we were exhausted having been on the road all day. This music continued until we left around 9am. We were told that it had been part of ongoing new year celebrations at a local temple. If I’d been manager of this establishment, I’d have prewarned paying guests about this so they had the option to stay elsewhere.  We were told by a waiter the celebrations had been ongoing for 10 days, so the hotel staff were well aware of it. When we complained, staff were not interested. 

At breakfast, they had pork sausages and pork bacon on the limited breakfast menu. My husband ordered this, but was served chicken bacon/chicken sausages. When he queried this, it was attributed to the new year celebrations also. Staff were not interested.

We certainly won’t stay here again, and would not recommend to anyone.

Book with caution

We used Habarana as a base to explore  Polunawara and go on safari. This bus to Polunawara was a five minute walk away from the lodge. The safari was organised by the lodge who helpfully arranged for us and another couple to  visit the national park at a reasonable price.
We opted to eat in on the first night, which was tasty but seemed to have been purchased from a nearby take-away rather than cooked on site! However, the breakfast was definitely cooked there and was an impressive meal. Rooms could do with some modernisation and TLC as the walls were a bit dirty but the bathroom was fine and the overall stay was comfortable.
I would definitely suggest here as a useful base for exploring.

Decent stay with helpful owner

Terrible place, and highly dissapointed on Sanjeewa Kodagoda (Manager or may be owner). I called this person more than one week ahead saying my requirement for two rooms (for 3 people) with AC. Fine, He agreed to give two rooms for Rs. 6000. But he said he need money to reserve the rooms. Then I said we are coming on the day before and I can come to his place to pay money, and he agreed for that. But, I understand that he has not marked any reservation for me, and just has ignored my booking. Then  I went there the day before and paid Rs. 1000 as an advance and confrimed my booking for the next day. However, next day around 10am he calls me and tells that he has no two rooms to give me and only has 1 room (which he calls a superior room), can accomodate 3 people, and asked me to pay Rs. 7,500...no other options. Now he is increasing the amount even after agreeing and with recieved cash advance. I immediately said I will not come to your place and with many difficulties I had to find another place to stay that night. I collected my Rs 1000 cash advance in the evenning. Highly dissapointed and vey bad. I dont recommend this place to anybody.

Terrible Place...please dont go

 We booked a night in this guest house and the experience was awful. When we arrived the room was absolutely not prepared.
No blankets, nothing in the bathroom (which is very unconvinient to use!) the internet connexion was extremly bad, not a single usable plug! And just to make the worst customer's experience possible, the room full of mosquitoes!!
We complained the next morning and instead of apologizing or at least trying to: showing the bill was of course more important because it's the only thing which matters to them!!! 

To be avoided!!!

We only arrived today. Staff are friendly and helpful. Room size is Ok, but infrastructure is pure. The floor is clean, but towels are dirty. It is at the borderline of acceptable. I wouldn't recommend it unless you don't have other options.
