Casa Manuel is a real hidden gem! We arrived on a very late flight and did not arrive to the Hostal until after 12.30 am at night, however the manager was there to meet us and checked us in promptly. The room itself was spotless with a large bathroom, two single beds, fridge, hairdryer, soap/ shampoo, television etc and was perfect for our needs. Breakfast is served downstairs from 8.30 to 11 am where you have the choice of cereal, toast, orange juice, coffee or tea. It made such a difference to us to be able to have something small to eat first thing in the morning before starting the day. 

The location is excellent, about a 10 minute direct walk to the Balcon and very close to the bus station. The street is quiet and we had no difficulty with any noise at any time, day or night, while staying in Room 3. 

We were so impressed with the friendly and helpful manager who was on site whenever you needed him. We accidentally locked our keys in the room on one occasion and he was there within 2 minutes to unlock it for us. On our last day, we were not leaving until 6.30 pm and we asked could we leave our luggage downstairs, he told us that we could have the use of the room until we checked out as he did not have his next guests arriving until the next day! We were so impressed and it made our last day so much more enjoyable. We would definitely return again and would highly recommend Casa Manuel.

Excellent Accommodation!

Five star experience in two/three star accommodation, labelled as one star.

For the price of a dorm bed elsewhere, I turned up at Casa Manuel, with three worries:  a lack of a UK adaptor,  lack of knowledge of walks in the surrounding area, and worries about printing confirmation of checking in my return flight.
Within 90 seconds, I had an adaptor, a walking guidebook, and a promise of print-off of my return flight.

The room was spotless, in a perfect area of town, so close to the bus station (5 mins) that I only got lost once on the way there, but then again I'm a bit of duffer under pressure.
 A lovely bathroom, with a decent hairdryer, (1star hostel, you're having a laugh).  Apparently the hotel was built by the manager's father in-law, perhaps his name is Manuel.
For €17 a night, I didn't expect any breakfast at all, but a bit of jam on toast and a nice Spanish coffee was a welcome wake-up benefit.
But the real star of this place is the manager.  He is this place.  He is ever-present to offer help, yet also fades into the background, and the place becomes like your own apartment room come sunset.
If I could offer one bit of advice, it would be to offer some double bed accommodation, as all bedrooms are currently twin.

All in all, if you are on a reconnaissance mission in Nerja, look no further.

Perfect for explorers on a budget

We travel to Nerja often and stay at various hotels. We booked here late but received an excellent price.  This a great hostel, reception/manager was perfect no hassle at all to check in and given all the information we needed. Room was also perfect, clean and a good size. Location was OK for us as we knew where we were in relation to Nerja amenities, the hill to the centre can be an issue but no problem for us. We would certainly stay here again. Thank you

This is a very nice hostel.
Immaculately clean and tidy.
Clean towels each day.
Hot powerful shower.
Quiet.
Basic but fantastic for anyone that wants a quiet room in a nice traditional Spanish hostel.


Very Nice

Visited here for 3 night. Overall for money and location would definately recommend for a few nights. Quick check in with very nice man who was on all 3 days. Room is very basic but very clean. Bathroom had bath shower and hairdryer. We had a twin room and the beds were very comfortable. Location close too puntilla our fav tapas bar and near bus station. Would have given 4 but for sticking lock and door and aircon units on outside kept waking us up. Well worth a visit though for a few nights
