Holiday Club Puerto Calma

We stayed as a couple for the last two weeks in March. We booked through a company which we have never used before, TravelUp so we were a bit apprehensive. No need to worry Deluxe room as promised with sea view. TBF all the rooms have a sea view but it was a cracking room 004 if anyone is interested. We have previously stayed at Marina Suites but they were a wee bit dearer at this time of the year. The resort is spotless and maintained to a really good level. In particular the gardens are stunning. As stated previously we stayed at Marina suites and in the interest of fairness and honesty their rooms were nicer. That is not a criticism of the Puerto Calma rooms. They are spacious, with everything you need and probably some stuff you don’t lol. Cleaned regularly and very comfortable. The pool area, no sun bed wars. As usual there are those folks who are pre programmed to get up at dawn and nab their favourite spots. They amuse and bewilder me in equal measure, there is more than enough beds in good places for everyone. However the star of the show is the Vibe bar. The folks that work there are genuinely nice. Caroline went out of her way to make sure we could watch the football. We wished she hadn’t after it but that wasn’t her fault and apologies to Leanne for jumping about from table to table but we did warn you we were the Gran Canaria hide and seek champions for 4 years in a row. These folks go about their business professionally and genuinely seem to enjoy working there. The food is really tasty and reasonably priced . They have a happy hour every day between 4 and 6 which we only witnessed once on the day of the football. I have to say the Scandinavians know a bargain when they see one. For folks who have mobility issues, the resort has a lift and is quite close to the flatter part down at the Marina with lots of good bars and restaurant’s nearby. If you can’t be bothered moving Vibe has a variety of themed nights with entertainment thrown in. I saw in a previous review that folks had been concerned about road noise. I have to be honest once you close the patio doors we couldn’t hear a thing. So all in all this is a very clean well maintained resort with friendly staff. But if your off a mind you could quite easily pitch up here and not leave due to the quality of food, drinks and entertainment offered by all of the staff at the Vibe bar. As this is a holiday club the booking options will vary on a daily basis. Some owners who cannot attend on their given dates will offer them to agencies. So hang in there the dates you want may appear. Definitely recommend and we hope to be back soon.
