When looking for a safe, cozy, comfortable and accessible place to stay while in Cape Town, 20 on Dixton is a fine option.  Situated near the main thoroughfares but nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, 20 on Dixton offers serenity and privacy that other places in Cape Town Central might not.

The unit I stayed in was the right size, with a very comfortable queen sized bed, and nightstands.  The cabinet space was more than sufficient and there was also enough space for a table to do some work and a sofa for resting.  The toilet and shower was not cramped and there was enough water pressure with hot and cold water.  Although there was a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster in the room with appropriate utensils, there is also a common kitchen area which has a 4 burner stove and oven, as well as a laundry unit one can use.

A safe was available as needed and there is also free wi-fi access.  Off street parking is also available and patrons just have to organize themselves when parking so as not to block anyone in.

Payments are very secure and one does not have to worry as the on site manager Hlony and the proprietor Ian and their staff ensure that you are cared for.  All units are cleaned and organized daily. This is definitely one place I will come back to when in the Cape.

Cozy comfort


The room was very nice on first impressions but maybe lacks a little on closer inspection 

I was also pleasantly surprised that the very near freeway wasn't more invasive 

In the room, it is a barely screened lavatory, something that is all too common in SA.  Here it is clearly design as there is plenty of room.  Just be aware! 

In addition the shower leaked from the base terribly, just as well we were keeping showers short due to the drought! And the sink drains very slowly 

We didn't see the owners the time we were there, just worth knowing as we had intended to settle up with cash but had to sort it out via email 

That all said it was a very comfortable room and good value in a safe part of town 



Good for the price 

Our experience did not match that of the previous reviewer. Whilst accurate about the facilities, we did not share the same standard of service. Our accomodation (in room 3) left a lot to be desired in terms of its visual appeal. In particular, the bathroom is in need of an extensive clean with a steamer and/or caustic soda to clean the wall and floor tiles and remove the black mould from the grouting. The bedroom skirting needs to be finished off correctly to close the gap between the floor and the wall. An electric power socket needs a cover plate. The door needs to be realigned so that it doesn't rattle in the wind. A transition moulding needs to be fitted between the wooden floor in the bedroom and the tiled floor in the bathroom. Some painting needs to be touched up and the small hole in the ceiling closed off.
So, overall, not a cozy or pleasant stay.

Not so cozy

The place was terrible, the rooms shown in the pictures are not what we were given, we were taken out of one of the rooms shown in the pictures and were given room 1 by the owner, Ian. He gave us a pathetic room with a toilet in the same room we were sleeping in, the toilet was separated by corrugated iron was totally exposed, with no door, when in bed you can actually see a person sitting at the toilet and hear everything. To me, that lacked privacy and totally unhygienic,no professionalism and a little disrespectful to clients. I am not recommending this place to anyone
