We stayed here in July 2011

Lovely we hotel, We were at a wedding and the food and hospitality was excellent.
Was very warm however and no air conditioning. 

A few guests went looking for fans in local area.

Very lovely people in the town. Soo nice to us, drink was very cheap your talking 80 cent for alcohol and half the time they wouldn't let us pay cause we were irish.

Would definitely return.

Wedding stay

Rožňava is a lovely little town surrounded by high hills in the Košice region of Slovakia.

Hotel Kras was well named. Cheap & unpretentious on Booking.com, it looks like a 1970s spy film version of a posh Soviet hotel.

Comedy touches aplenty: the shower head went down on me (which made my weekend) and everything you put on the shelf above the sink slowly slid off. Towels & bed linen are clean, reminding me of weekends at my granny’s in the 1970s.

We all slept well (for which the hotel deserves a 3rd star) and breakfast was adequate. Avoid the chocolate croissants, the rest of the bread was good, cheese & fruit very good. Bring your own tea bags.

Wifi is included. It’s good. 

Can’t fault the receptionist. She did everything she could to make us comfortable. 

Tomorrow night: the heady luxury of the Ibis at Budapest airport.

I stayed at this hotel as part of a group on a tour and this is the one hotel which a number of us said we would not stay at again.  The hotel is situated on a main road near the centre of Rosnava.  My room at the side, although a good walk from the lift was quiet, whilst some of the rooms on the roadside were somewhat noisy.  There was no Wifi in the rooms but free Wifi was available close to reception.  There was no hairdryer in the room but rental was available for 1 Euro.  To get hot water in my room from the sink or shower, the taps needed to be turned to cold!  The wardrobe had no door and there was a Germanic style toilet!   There were blinds at the window so the room was pleasingly dark after daybreak.  The bed was a little hard and the under-sheet well worn.  
Service at reception was friendly and helpful which contrasted with the restaurant waiter who was quite dour and unsociable.  The food was poor with little choice for breakfast and both breakfast and dinner were low quality.  The waiter also tried to charge for an extra cup of tea at breakfast.  However, the hotel was conveniently situated to a Lidl supermarket, where most of us popped to supplement our half board plus mediocre packed lunch.  The waiter also reached over you when removing plates from your table and did not wait until all at the table had finished, giving the impression that you were being rushed.  I definitely would not stay at this hotel again.
