After a long night of flying, I arrived at the hotel at 9:20 am, and to my amazement, they had a room ready for me. Such a great start! The friendly receptionist checked me in quickly and showed me to my room. 

The room was fairly large and came with a comfortable bed. There were sockets by the bed, and there was a safe, a fridge (with a refillable water bottle, with a filling station in the breakfast room), a desk & chair as well as a coffee table & armchair. It fulfilled all three star criteria nicely. Wifi was free, fast, reliable, and unlimited. No problem watching videos etc. Air conditioning, on the other hand, was not very efficient. It did cool the room down a bit so the temperature was definitely lower than outside, but despite running all day, the room was still umcomfortably warm. Make sure to bring an eyeshade as the curtains do little to keep light out and the sun rises at 6 am. Earplugs are a good idea, too, if you are bothered by barking dogs or noisy guests in the bar downstairs.

The bathroom was huge and came with a walk-in shower with an overhead and a handheld shower. Water pressure was adequate but not great, hot water was ample. Amenities consisted of refillable hand soap and bath gel as well as dental and shaving kits.

The rather basic breakfast was included in my room rate (walk-ins pay 15 EUR) and was served 7:30–10 on the patio. There is no buffet, and no menu to choose from. You will get fried eggs or an omelette, a fruit salad or smoothie, some sponge cake, toast, butter and home-made jam served to your table.

Reception is open from 8 am till 6 pm. Make sure to contact the hotel in advance if you arrive outside these times. They reply quickly to emails. Note that check-out time is 10 am, which is very early.

As the name suggests, the hotel is indeed located on a hill, so be prepared for a steep climb to reach the place. Other than that, the location is good, within walking distance from central Victoria. Walking to the inter-island ferry terminal took me about 20 minutes. From the airport, the ride is about 15 minutes. I had preordered a taxi for 30 EUR. The hotel also organizes airport transfers, but their price is 40 EUR.

The Seychelles are an incredibly expensive destination as far as accommodation is concerned, and the price of 135 EUR/night felt high for what I got, but I suppose the price is right as the hotel was busy. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay and hope to be able to return one day.


 A great choice in the Seychellois capital

A room with a gorgeouse view. I stayed in Room #8. Very large room with high ceilings. Comfortable bed. Large bathroom with a great shower with hot water. Lots of room to place your toiletries.  Numerous towels provided. Fridge, coffee maker and kettle.
Very deliciouse breakfast in a nice garden like setting. Nice staff and soft  creole music playing in background. This hotel provides so many nice touches to make you feel at home.
Best of all was welcoming Andrew who gave such good advice on what to do in Mahe and does the property proud with his wit and charm.  Being  tv remote control challenged came to room right away to sort my problem out.  Being a solo traveller 
always nice to have such a welcome and good conversation. 
Highly recommend staying here. Did not want to leave the room.

A room with a view

My wife and I spent 4 nights at this hotel, arriving at 10:30AM after picking up our rental car at SEZ Airport.
We met smiling Dashawn at reception who processed our card payment then carried our bags up along a walkway with a view of a huge breadfruit tree and the President’s house. Corner Room #8 was high ceilinged, tiled and spacious, with a very firm queen bed, closet, desk and small refer with 2 waters, coffee and a French press. French doors opened to a small balcony with a long view over Victoria port, its wind machines and to the sea. The large bathroom included a bidet and a tile shower with a rain head.

The quietly air conditioned room was serviced daily, had good secure WIFI and excellent satellite TV with 19 channels; Al Jazeera, CANAL+, CCTV/CNN/Dubai 1/ESPN, Euro/French/Russian news, Homeys, Nt. Geo., and more.

The excellent 7:30AM breakfast on the covered garden patio outside the lower level lobby with a cook and smiling server included juice, muesli with bananas, eggs of your choice, toast/crepes(honey/ chocolate/jam) and coconut and banana cakes. 

We shopped at the Murugesan Minimarket 400m down the steep paved street, 250m farther in level Victoria to the covered market and 200m more to the new Glorious Bakery. Within these few blocks are 2 cathedrals, 2 museums, shops and restaurants.

A few negatives include yapping dogs, spurts of heavy rain and necessary caution to not drop the provided glass container of bathroom soap/shampoo in the shower.


Well managed hotel with nice staff and sea view.

We loved our time at the Hilltop Boutique Hotel.  The room was in a perfect location for exploring the island because it is very centrally located (although you need to get a car or take a taxi if you want to go beyond Victoria or to the beach).  The room is as pictured and was very nice.  The balcony was wonderful and let in cooling breezes (the room does have AC).  The breakfasts were simple and delicious, eggs of choice, fruit, breads and fresh juice.  Everything was great but the best part of our experience was the staff.  Everyone was very friendly and helpful.  We would definitely stay there again and definitely recommend it for people wanting to explore the island.

Great small hotel

I had a pleasure to visit SEYCHELLES during my summer holiday.
I have chosen this hotel because of localization, intimate atmosphere and
opinion from other guests.
General impression is very good - hotel meets the expectations in relations
to price vs. standard.
I would emphasize the exceptional hospitality and friendliness of the staff.
The host was very helpful and additional tour offers were very successful.
The night sounds of nature added something to the charm of this place,
as did the presence of winged guests at breakfast

i had a terrible experience in this hotel.
as the name suggests the hotel is located at the end of a very steep road.
the road leading to the hotel is not illuminated  and a deep (1.5 meter)  uncovered ditch runs along one side.
going down to the restaurant owned by the same family holding the hotel ,i was blinded by a car and stepped aside to avoid being hit, unaware of the ditch.
i had a terrible fall and luckily was not killed or maimed for life.
i got out with lots  of bleeding cuts and bruises.
got somehow to my room and called reception .
reception is unmanned after 1600. and nobody answered my call.
eventually , with the help of the restaurant  got hold victoria , managing the place.
the hotel had no first aid materials and she had to borrow some of a neighbor.
she did not offer to call a doctor or take me to the hospital!!
next day when i asked for some compensation she told me that this not her responsibility and i should ask the authority's for compensation.
as a token of good will she gave me 50 euros which i gave to the taxi driver.
this is criminal disregard of guest safety.
the entrance of the hotel must be illuminated!!!
as to the hotel.
my room was big, devoid of any comfort. one chair . no easy chairs
small t.v. far from the bed,noisy refregirator,  terribly noisy air condition unit.
go to this hotel knowing that if some thing happens to you, you are on your own.

avoid at all cost

The Hilltop Boutique Hotel is the kind of accomodation, that I like most, when I travel: small, personal and aesthetical. Mrs Irene Fonseka and her daughter Victoria, who speaks fluent German, make one fell welcome. They seem to love their place and their job. There are flowers everywhere: in the room, when one checks in, by the reception and at the breakfast area, where I saw Irene herself in charge of the flower arrangements.

The hotel is in an attractive colonial style building, located - as the name suggests - in the upper part of Victoria, so offering wide views over the town and the harbour. Just below is the famous restaurant 'Marie Antoinette', also in a colonial building, which was started in 1972 by Irene's mother Kathleen.

Through reception I arranged several transfers by taxi, for which they are using the friendly and reliable driver Albest. To walk to the center of town around the clocktower it takes about 10 minutes downhill. 

The room is spacious enough and beautifully set up with furniture matching the style of the hotel. There is a small balcony just for standing, a big wardrobe, a fridge with complimentary bottled water. For some the double bed might be a bit on the hard side, but it was fine with me. If one wakes up at night one might hear plenty of barking dogs, even through closed windows.

The bathroom again looks beautiful too and it has all one needs. The shower functions well, I only had to ask which of the two differently colored liquids in glass bottles was the shampoo. A bit weak is the light everywhere in the studio.

Breakfast is in a covered outdoor area with long tables and benches. It is served as of 7am, first a fruit bowl and a fruit juice like lime and lemongrass. Then one has a choice of eggs as well as pancakes or coconut cake. Special are their homemade jams, one made with papaya, the other with jamalac, as they call here the wax apple.

Holiday makers on Mahé might prefer to stay at the touristy Beau Vallon Beach, but to get a feel of the Seychelles' capital or at the beginning of a trip to other islands (and again at the return) a couple of nights at this Boutique hotel are always recommended.

What a welcoming and nice hotel to stay. A real family business, where service is still highly valued.
And in the morning you will be surprised with a very tasty fruit platter.

I stayed at the Hilltop boutique hotel for almost 11 weeks on business, from the moment I walked through the door I was made to feel very welcome by all the staff, they will do everything in there power to ensure your stay is a pleasant one, I cannot thank them enough for the way they’ve looked after me. The rooms are kept very clean and are well above average size. I stayed on a bed breakfast and evening meal basis and the food is as good as any restaurant in the area, the omelettes at breakfast are very good.

I would recommend the hilltop to all my friends knowing that they would be met with the same kindness and attention that I received 5⭐️

Superb

Wonderful host - so welcoming, friendly and we really enjoyed chatting with her. Rooms were large and very clean. Breakfast was cooked to order and flexible for us when we needed to leave early for a flight. They also cooked some dinner for us when we let them know earlier the same day that we would be travelling to them during the evening from Praslin.
