First of all, this hotel is one of the cheapest in Gisenyi, so don't expect your room to be decorated with state-of-the-art paintings or to have a breathtaking lake view. There is no decoration whatsoever in the room and there is no view to speak of. However, we found that the receptionist was friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed the breakfast. We also enjoyed the proximity to the lake: less than 100 meters away. If you are traveling on your own or with colleagues, it's a fine place. If you are traveling with a date or your sweetheart for a romantic weekend, that's not! Keep searching!

Not for couples

I have stayed for one night and I loved it ! Great service and value for money! The guy at the reception is very nice and those at the restaurant. It’s just 2 minutes walk to the lake and other exciting places arround. 

The rooms were super clean , beds are comfortable but wifi was quite slow 😋

Great service and value for money

There are two buildings. We stayed in the newer one, up on the small hill. That's a kind of suite with a very big bedroom and a living room next to with view over the lake.
You can also sit outside.
The bathroom is small and we had issue with a pipe leaking. They fixed it as soon as we told them. Everything is super whitish, big lack of charm. 
Breakfast was super good, especially the fruits.

Fair enough, huge room

We stayed 2 nights at Musanto and everything is the room was old and broken, with a very bad smell. The breakfast is not as fantastic as mentioned. Except for that, the hotel is very well located and the staff is nice and welcoming! 

Good location but old rooms 

Stayed here for  a week.The rooms are very basic with limited facilities .Surprisingly no fan or Aircon or very very dimly lit.rooms on ground floor lack privacy.Not much to write about this hotel which gives feeling of a guest house.What they lack in facility ,they more than compensate in hospitality.

Nothing Special

The rooms are more than Ok for the price but during weekends this place becomes a hang out for party mongers from Kigali who do not care at all that other people want to sleep. Last weekend I booked a room there, there was a small party going on right under my window. I asked those people to make less noise: nothing happened ! I asked the receptionist to tell them to make less noise: nothing happened ! The managment in this place is rather poor. And if you combine this with a lot of noise things can t get worse !

Journalist

Well kept lakeside hotel with really friendly staff who made me feel right at home. Enjoyed conversing with Olivier, Arsene and Muhawe and getting their advice on working and travelling around the area. Really made for a lovely stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an affordable, simple stay in the Gisenyi area.

Clean and Friendly

Returning after about 18 months' absence, upon arrival I asked to see the Manager who remembered me (which always feels good) and facilitated our check-in. Room was in a corner that allowed us to have the window open without being visible to passers-by. Other rooms in our wing did not enjoy this advantage. Breakfast was ample and delicious and makes the overall value-for-money of a stay in the Musanto all the more pronounced. 

We were provided with electric plug adapters to allow the use of 3-prong flat electronic appliances. 

The hotel is close to the strip along the beach where one finds all the open-air restaurants. It is also convenient to all the tour boats, handicraft shops and (quite unfortunately, few) remaining Belgian colonial villas with their stunning, unique architecture.

This hotel is not fancy but it is everything a budget hotel should be.

Can't Be Beat for Proximity and Affordability

When initially making my reservation I had requested a quiet room. Upon my arrival no one helped me with my luggage, the staff saw me from the window carrying my heavy luggage but no help what so ever. The hotel has a garden and when I arrived the music was blasting from the bar and a group of African guys were sitting there drinking. Not my type of hotel! I asked again for a quiet room and apparently the allocated room was a room on the ground floor, facing the garden with the loud music and right by a stair case and directly behind the bar. I told them I would not stay there so they made me wait for 15-20 mins. for an upgraded room (which was more expensive of course!!) so that I could see another room upstairs (all the standard rooms are on the ground floor I was told) but unfortunately the upgraded room was also facing the garden. I decided to leave as it was way too noisy. I don’t understand how a hotel can be playing loud music just to cater for one small group of locals. No consideration for the foreign guests what so ever. The hotel looked very old and not too clean either. I was happy to leave and found a much better and quiet hotel in town on the hill for the same price.

Super noisy hotel

We stayed a few days at the Musanto hotel, and really enjoyed our stay there.The hotel is peacefull, the staff is great, and the Tam Tam beach is only 100m from the hotel. From there, we could find a lot of interesting activities for our family...
