Marioara Guesthouse was the first to open in Breb and they are still keeping a high standard ! The accommodation has 2 sections: The Old House, a charming wooden cotage with 4 rooms and a newr part with 6 rooms. Both places are spotless, clean and very beautiful decorated. Breakfasts is very generous and delicious. Hosts are great ! Higly recommended !

One of the best places to stay in Breb !

During my short break in Romania, we stay for one night at this guest-house in the Maramures area. We had here the dinner and breakfast. For my first time in my life, I ate fresh milk, what a flavor,  absolutely amazing. The silence and the sound of nature make me want to return for a longer stay. Only in a safari made a few years ago in South Afrika, I felt connected with nature like here.

Tasty food

I chose this location, and Breb, upon reading the positive reviews as well as a suggestion under one of the travel topics to go to Breb instead of the 'drab' Baie Mare. The unit itself, which more resembles a large house, was very nice and most definitely an upgrade over the hostels, good hostels I might add, I was staying in before. 

The owner, a very nice lady who primarily spoke Romanian and French, was very accommodating and hospitable. The group dinner, which I have to say was my favorite part, consisted of deliciously home-cooked soup, a rice and meat dish (don't recall what the meat was but it was good), and what I think was a banana creme layered piece of cake. This was preceded by a traditional Romanian shot, and complemented by a Romanian wine. Devouring my fare while galavanting with the other guests was a very nice and pleasant way to spend the evening.

While I can't complain about my hosteling experience, having a private room was a welcome reprieve in that I could really spread out and even do some exercises to somewhat keep in shape without being looked at wierdly. The room was so clean and cozy. I also loved the back yard which was surrounded by greenery and was so chill.

I have to say this was definitely one of my better, if not the best, experiences of my two week getaway. I rented a car and a lot of my trip was kind of hustle bustle, and getting to the next place. This was the most relaxing part of my trip and the only drawback was that I spent just one night here. Would like to say a warm thank you to the owner and her staff for their warmth and hospitality, for the delicious food and drinks, and for providing a nice clean place and room to stay.

Simply Spectacular

I was met by the owner at the door when I was ducking from the rain. I parked my bicycle safely in front. I was shown my room immediately. I stayed two nights. Dinner was a traditional soup and bread, and wine and tasty salad. Large breakfast all fresh local foods.  Room was new, modern and clean with a great shower. The balcony looked out over the garden behind the hotel where a restored traditional house is available for a larger group or families. It is decorated with antiques. They speak a little English and their elderly mother helps with cooking and speaks some Italian.

Visiting Breb, Romania

The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and food - both breakfast and evening meal were great - clearly home cooked. The owner does not speak any English which did initially cause a language problem, but our pigeon French got us through.

Great Experience

We had a good break here. The people are so friendly and we loved the food and social time at meals. Portions are generous and it felt special being able to eat home made or locally produced food and drink. We enjoyed walking through the surrounding countryside and definitely plan to go back.

Not great

The guesthouse is nice! Food one if the best I have ever had. Rooms clean, traditionaly ornated. Marioara the host is very attentive and cares for her visitors. She gives information, she made sure we were never lacking anything!

Wonderful home stay.  Maria and her daughters and helpers were all very warm and welcoming even though there was an (English] language barrier.  Our room was clean,  comfortable and spacious and with an attached bathroom. Loved the rural setting. We had delicious breakfasts and dinners which were add ons but worth every penny.
