Not a bad meal but the waiters English is not brill and trying to ask what came with the fish or steak was met with a blank face!
That said the veg and fries asked for was nice, I think it might have been useful for the menu to be more detailed?!
Pudding was chocolate mousse or cheesecake only it wasn’t cheesecake but a creme brûlée !!
Not a bad meal though, fish, steak, veg, one dessert and a bottle of house red was €51

Not bad

Stayed for 7 nights and we both really enjoyed the visit. The hotel was recommended by friends. Nice room on top (3rd) floor with panoramic sea views. Restaurant good for breakfast and limited supper menu. Service overall very good. 
Use of excellent facilities at sister hotel Estalagem a major plus, restaurant, pool etc all very good.
Hotel provided shuttle from airport and to Funchal plus providing transport to excellent walks on the Levadas.
Overall very good and booked for 2021 already.

 Very good hotel

A perfect location in a small village. Wonderful sunsets from the Estalagem. Very helpful staff most welcoming. The rooms have all you need including kettle and mini fridge. Decor in bathroom perhaps in need of attention otherwise ideal.

Relaxing holiday

They were very accommodating for us having not booked and tables all full at the time. Came back in 5 minutes and a table for 4 was ready.

The food was brilliant, smaller sized portions made for our children too.

Would certainly recommend.

Amazing Meal

nice small hotel in heart of Ponta do sol ! rooms are not very large but very clean witn fridge and sunny varanda ! Nice breakfast ! Young staff very casual ! restaurante with short menu  but very agreable with competive prices ! Difficult to park in summer ! next door there is  the famous  ice cream of balooo !   the wi-fi was not the best ! fails sometimes

A good price with great facilities of Estalagem da Ponta do Sol

Flew in to Madeira for the first time (which is an experience unto itself) in May. Stayed at this hotel, which also has a sister hotel next door, up on a cliff, with great facilities called Estalagem da Ponta do Sol. There is also an excellent restaurant attached there. 

The rooms are clean, yet a little small. Wifi and all amenities were excellent, and they have a small restaurant and bar near the lobby. 

The town itself is very nice, with good restaurants. Great place to relax. 

One con that you need to think about if you decide to stay outside of Funchal in a place like Ponta do Sol (yet want to visit Funchal), the taxis are RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED, EXPENSIVE, AND THE DRIVE LIKE MANIACS. Did I make that clear enough? 

The ride from the airport to this hotel was something like $75. (Which of course means you need a return trip). Additionally, put your seatbelts on. Though most of the taxis were great automobiles (Mercedes in each of the ones I rode in), the taxis like to speed through very windy road conditions. 

I am told that car rentals are crazy expensive also. They clearly take advantage of the tourist.

Nice, clean, stylish place. Staff extremely helpful

This hotel is very stylish. The cliff top location only adds to its glamour.  The main hotel areas are beautifully designed and decorated, and the dining room is particularly with its floor to ceiling glass walls is a fine room.

We stayed in a sea facing room, and the views were worth the extra expense. The room was quite large, again nicely decorated, a plush bathroom, and a sheltered balcony to take in the sun.

The hotel has an outdoor infinity pool which is surrounded by lounging areas. We found the outdoor pool water temperature to be too cold to enjoy swimming. That end of the hotel also has a spa area, with treatment rooms, and an indoor pool where the water is quite warm. 

Service is very attentive.
