Set in amongst a working cherry orchard this is a unique old farm villa. The hosts were very hospitable encouraging us to attend a locals celebration of the sardine in the nearby village.
The following evening we joined them and another couple for dinner on the terrace, great home barbecued meats and local vegetables. The outdoor pool was a bonus and would have been used much more if the weather had plays its part.
This Quinta is in a good central location for exploring the highlands of Portugal, some spectacular scenery is nearby.
A substantial breakfast is standard
We had a really good time based here.

Authentic rural experience

Beatiful house decorated with a lot of love. The house offers a lot of possibility for free time and leasure activities . The  owners are very friendly and kind. We find fruits in the room.

Quinta Formosa is a medium sized B&B,. The title "Home from Home" was chosen because this w  Lourdes, Francisco and their daughter Francesca treated us as one of the family. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the breakfasts first class.  We were given advice on where to eat and we tried all three  Bebiana  big bright and airy, with pleasant service a good menu, and good food,  Soadroa  a  restaurant specialising Portuguese cuisine, my. goat was lovely. Vallecula , a very good menu with both traditional and international cuisine. lovely atmosphere on my experience I woul rate. The Bull Fillet as excellent

Home from Home

We stayed here in early January 2013, arriving on New Years Eve. The owners included us in their new year celebrations which was a real experience. Lots of singing, mountains of food and the wine they make at the quinta. They speak very little English and we speak virtually no Portuguese but we managed to communicate somehow - mainly in French I think! The accommodation was clean and pleasant in a rustic way. The family could not have been more helpful giving us ideas for walks and excursions. An excellent place for a few days in lovely and interesting countryside near the mountains.

Friendly and welcoming

It is a rural place were you can have a very good rest and enjoy the views.
Facilities are marvelous, people are very kind, breakfast is one of the best's that I ever tried with natural juice made with fruits produced on this farm, free wifi and the swimming pool is closed but it looks good.
In this place you can visit several and near cities with a lot of history as Belmonte, Sortelha, Serra da Estrela.
It is the perfect place to be in familly and a peaceful place to spend your holidays insted of being in the cities mess.
I am leaving tomorrow back home and I already miss this place.
