4 reviewsWe were in Arequipa for an immersion Spanish program. The school recommended a nice lodging but it was on a very, very busy street in a “gritty” section of the city. Early in our stay we were walking through the colonial Yanahuara district and found Panorama as we were exploring the residential side streets off the Yanahuara Park. We quickly decided to change lodgings! Panorama has a wonderful location. It is surrounded by colonial era residential housing much of which is being restored and updated. There is virtually no traffic on its cobble stone like streets so it is very quiet, a real plus in Arequipa. It is just a quick stroll to the beautiful Yanahuara Park which has 5-10 local eateries and 2 upscale restaurants to choose from. It’s a 15-20 minute pleasant walk down the hill, across the river to the central downtown area. We found the separation from downtown just fine since it was very quiet and also allowed us to walk off all the extra calories from the great Peruvian food. The hotel is not super fancy which is indicated by the price, but it is very clean, the included breakfast is great, we had a wonderful view of El Misti from our room, and always important, the owners Percy and Nardi are just wonderful people. Also, for whatever reason, Panorama has not yet been discovered by American and European visitors so we had extra opportunities to practice our Spanish! A perfect place for us.
