Lovely hard workin landlady 

 , I gladly  have stayed here forever ,   loved  it  here  so much to see , great for kids , landlady even chased a piglet for me to hold . Don't change a thing in ur site it's bloody class , 

The farmhouses were marketed as rustic 100 year old cottages... which made me wonder about leaking roofs and creaking floorboards.  In actual fact, we had nothing to worry about.  Cottage 2 was lovely and had a homely feel.  Much better than sterile hotels you can find anywhere else.

Sure, not everything works perfectly.  The sofas were a little saggy in the centre, the stove took a while to heat up and the bath water may suddenly turn cold on you (just adjust the temperature control again).  But the cottage was spacious.  Beds were clean and comfortable.  We also didn’t hear any traffic despite being so close to the road.  In other words, we had pretty good sleep!

Kids loved the little playground in the yard,  the domestic cats and all the farm animals.  The sheep, goat, horses, pigs, geese, rabbits and guinea pigs.  (You’re welcome to visit the farm at any time, just don’t enter the paddocks or feed the animals unless on a conducted tour.)

Narita was a perfect host, friendly but not intrusive.  She prepared generous breakfast provisions for us.  And we absolutely loved the 8.30am farm tour with her 2 children.  We bottle fed the lambs, carried the guinea pigs and fed the rabbits and geese....while listening to Narita’s interesting narratives.

Do stay with Narita if you’re visiting Waitomo!

Stayed here for 1 night due to its proximity to the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves (approximately 10 mins drive).  Also, the appeal of staying on a farm was to good an opportunity to miss. The cottage was comfortable and very roomy - has 3 bedrooms, a living area, kitchen and 2 showers, but is in need of some TLC.  Our fridge was stocked with breakfast supplies (eggs, bread, milk, water, yoghurt, butter, jam) which was very much appreciated.  Narita was a lovely host, who allowed us to join her the following morning to feed some of her livestock.

Fabulous Farmstay for Kids

Great value stay in a cottage

The host was very lovely and helpful, and the sheets on the bed were super soft.  However the house itself was a little too rustic (old and creepy), with the kitchen split over three rooms (the oven was in the dining room).  The house was cold and unfortunately there was no gas to operate the heating in the main room.  The farm itself was also a little disappointing.

Stayed a few nights in a campervan and I found the facilities to be disgusting and non-functional (actually  a real safety risk in the 'shower'). I did not appreciate the mouldy furniture in the guest shared space. The broken shower outside which was dirty and clogged up. I was also upset about the way the little lambs well caged in a little (tiny) section in which they had no grass left. Really I most disappointing campervan experience I have ever had in New Zealand
