It's alright for a night to crash and get some sleep but not more. We felt uncomfortable as the whole atmosphere was simply a bit weird. Just seemed a bit like an odd place. We didn't event meet anyone from the reception the whole time... 

Not more than a night

The accomadation was generally grubby but we realise that you get what you pay for. The biggest issue is with the late night noise and inconsiderate use of outdoor areas.

The accommodation is configured around a narrow court yard which has benches and soft seating areas. Despite enough notices that no alcohol is to be consumed in the area after 10 pm when it's supposed to become a quiet area, this is ignored. On our last night we returned at 11 pm where a full party was taking place outside our door. This went on until the early hours until all the beer bottles were noisily  dumped in to the recycling bins. This was after a long drawn out process by a group of guys trying to show a group of young girls a card game (can't imagine why!).

It appears that the property uses backpackers as cheap labour in exchange for accomadation. This shows as from check in to reinforcing the rules the attitude isn't great. 

In short there are far quieter and cleaner properties in the area we will use next time. Suggest you avoid and read the more honest review below as we wish we had! 



AVOID 

Unfortunately I did not enjoy my stay at the Stables.

To say the place in a bit of a need of a renovation is a big understatement. The place is in an appalling state and nothing seems to be working. Thin mattresses, uncomfortable pillows, ramshackle locker doors, leaking shower heads, broken toilet seats... Kitchen area is also incredibly small and unable to accommodate more than one group cooking at one time.

There are rules for a quiet time after 10pm, but this is not enforced at all. Quests were still playing music and talking loudly right outside the dorm room doors even after midnight. Quite many are also smoking both cigarettes and weed on the premises - even some members of the staff. Needless to say, this was also against the rules of the hostel, which people just totally ignored.

I know it's cheap, but your money will be spent better elsewhere. Do not support this hostel. Avoid at all costs.

Extremely noisy and uncomfortable

It’s a small place, so the reception is not always open. It’s a bit run down and dirty, with two many long term residents owning the place. The flies did enjoy the atmosphere. In saying that, the room was clean and tidy, linen was good, although the bed a bit short. Toilets a bit average, could do with fixing the seat to the toilet. The walls were thin and we could easily hear the noise in the kitchen and hallway.

Thin walls made for a noisy sleep

We were only staying for one night, and didn't really need much. We arrived, the staff was sitting outside and almost ignoring us at first, but then got up, gave us our keys and so on. We saw our room, and could instantly see that it was not one of the best hostels we had been at (and we have been to many). The room and the kitchen were not too clean, and the beds seemed a bit questionable, but all that you can live with for one night, but one basic thing you expect, even from a bad hostel, is heat in the rooms! There were no heat, and when we stayed there it was 4 degrees celcius outside! And it was warmer outside than in our room.. we didn't sleep at all that night! And then we wanted to just get out of there, but couldn't until 9am because they had one of our ID's, but after having waited several hors (we had been up since like 6am, because it was so cold!), no one was at reception! And no one answered the phone! At last we got to check out, but almost so late that we missed one of our plans... Worst night ever. I would never recommend this place to anyone, let alone stay there again myself! Furthermore, some really creepy guy (who might have lived there) walked around and kind of waited for us, and wouldn't leave us alone, kept knocking on our room door as well.. so creepy!
