It is really cold everywhere and a bit shabby. There is nothing provided in the kitchen, no oil, no teabags and no spices. Besides I had an alcoholic grandma in my room...it is just disappointing. There are so much better hostels.

worst yha so far

Stayed one night in this YHA as thought it would be a decent bet. Ok value for money with kitchen, dining room etc but the whole place was tired and run down.  My bedroom window wouldn't lock, and the wifi wasn't working. Plus no car parking facilities so I had to pay to leave the car somewhere else, and lockers you had to pay $2 for.  With new carpet, a lick of paint and some facilities improved, this would be a lovely hostel in a great location.

An ok place but desperately needs serious facelift! 

The most rude and unpleasant lady I've ever met in the hospo sector. We came here on Friday night and pay 32 dollars each for an old, dirty and small dorm for 2 for one night. We wanted to stay 3 weeks but weren't sure until the following morning because we had to see if we could get the job first. So when we first came the husband at the reception said to us "ok if you want to stay longer just give us a call before tomorrow morning at 10 and my wife will know that you are staying longer. It would be 150 cash for the week".
The following morning we tried to call 7 times (!!!) before 10 and no one answered. When we went there at 10.10 (!!!) the lady was super rude, she said everything was fully booked for the night and she didn't want to give us information about the coming days. ALSO THEY PUT ALL OUR STAFF IN THE LOUNGE because we didn't check out on time and when I said we tried to call several times she answered "we're busy".
Then we checked on the internet and the room was still available so she just wanted to get rid of us.
YOU PEOPLE ARE DISGUSTING, we are not animals and you don't deserve to run a YHA hostel.

RUDE LADY, DISGUSTING SERVICE

Visited this hostel for a concert this month I had to work until early afternoon and did’nt get to the hostel until after the reception shuts @ 8:30pm!! No contact number on the door had to sleep in the car on the beachfront for the first night of our visit. The next morning when reception was finally open the lady was quite rude in stating that you should of read our things to note section at the very bottom of their website.. would’nt stay again bad left bad taste in my mouth, better hostels in Napier personally.

Be Aware!

I would say this is the worst YHA I ever stay, the room is smell bad, the facilities all old, and the manager at night is rude, I won’t try any other YHA if this one is the first YHA I tried. the location is good I would say, but it is not a YHA standard like other cities.
