Kokopu Country Estate Cottages and Bed & Breakfast

We stayed in the Gatekeepers Cottage, part of the main house, which was well appointed with good views from every window. We slept very well in the comfortable bed and woke to the dawn chorus. It was good to be able to wander up the fields and see the sheep and the vineyard and the views from the top. A short drive down to Akaroa village gives you all the shops and restaurants you need. The village butcher and delicatessen has a wide selection including delicious home made ready meals. All this is topped off by the warm welcome from Wendy and Mark who made sure we were ok and had all we needed. We must not forget Fergus, who was always pleased to see people. It was a good base to explore the Banks peninsular, Wendy and Mark's local knowledge pointed us in the right direction such as the Maori and Colonial Museum at Okains Bay.
