484 reviewsWe were arriving on the bullet train from Casablanca so I emailed Dar Jameel and Tal responded that he would arrange for a taxi to pick us up at the train station. I cannot emphasize how good it felt to be met at the train station by a smiling face and taken straight to the front door of the riad - which is in a quiet part of the old medina and might be difficult to find on your own if you are new to Tangier like we were. (After a day in Tangier we could find Dar Jameel easily because it is right near the Hotel Continental.) The last thing I wanted to do after being on a plane all night and then navigating the train stations was to haggle with a taxi driver in a language I do not speak. We even caught an earlier train and Tal was still able to have a taxi meet us - the response time to my emails was excellent. Everyone we encountered at Dar Jameel was friendly and eager to help - from housekeeping to the folks who served breakfast to the front desk. There are admittedly a lot of stairs but there was always someone there to help us with our luggage. The guys at the front desk were very helpful with restaurant recommendations and assisting us with taking the ferry to Tarifa. Breakfast was substantial (best mint tea of our trip) and varied. There are two lovely terraces to lounge on - one outside and one inside and covered. There are a/c units in the room which helped dry out the air as it was 99% humidity when we were there. All in all a delightful stay and thank you to everyone who works at Dar Jameel that made our trip so memorable. I would highly recommend.
