I've always wanted to leave this review but haven't so far: in 2019 I have booked this hostel months in advance for having a secure place for going to the Gnaouafestival. Two days before arrival I receive the cancellation stating they have to do some important work. Of course, in the most busy week of the year there is some important maintenance to do. I'm sure they wanted to get more money out of the stay. Is this how you treat other people? We had to find a place last minute which cost us way more of course. I strongly advise anyone to not support this kind of asocial behaviour!

Cancelled last minute!!

The location is good just five minutes walk from Bab Marrakech , close to shops, market, bakery & smalll restaurants.The staff Ismail is friendly and helpful. There are surf boards to rent and lessons can be arranged through the hostel. However, it’s really unclean with a very strong odour of sewage constantly coming from all bathrooms.

I stayed two nights and I had no problems at all. The was clean, beds were confortable and their duvet felt really warm.
Staff is super kind and helpful.
We bought all we needed for breakfast at the market and eat it at the terrace.

Really chill

Really relaxed vibes at this hostel & the staff are lovely. But the facilities (kitchen & bathroom) were always pretty dirty & there was no atmosphere or any nice area to hang out & meet other travellers. Yet we still had a pleasant stay- probably not the best hostel for solo travellers though. 

Relaxing but no atmosphere

We stayed in a private room with bathroom and it was clean, bright and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have a comfy communal area downstairs with good WiFi just in common area which is pretty standard for Morocco. There is a rooftop to chill out in the sun. Great location in the Medina, with all the local produce just outside.

Great hostel

We spent two nights in the hostel in January 2018, we found a very helpful manager that took a lot of care in answering all our questions about Essaouira and travelling in the area, and was in general very kind and caring.The rooms and the whole building look very interesting even though the sinks are a bit dirty. The position is so good to reach and explore the city and close to all services (local bus station, cheap food stalls, and the only shop where they sell beer).
