I can't say enough of a great things about this Hostel. I stayed there for 4 weeks this September-October and will never stay anywhere else in Merida. And few times before. First of all the crew is happy, helpful, professional, friendly, very hard working. Every single one. I will list names at the end of this review. The food is best in whole Merida, the cook is a beautiful soul and that makes his food outstanding. Please tip guys generously. The Coffee! The Burger! I wish there were more on the menu, so i didn't have to go anywhere else. :) 
Felipe - the manager works as hard as everyone else and the generous, kind soul. 
Helped me at harsh times - for ever grateful! Gibran can make any day just a Holiday! Katy - is for ever smiling and helpful. The cleaning crew - amazing. 
The pool is much better than on pictures. The greenery, tons of palms - the rooms! I stayed in both: private and dorms. Comfy! Please be mindful and clean after yourself. The music is not overwhelming like in other hostels. Plus I am not young, I was there for health reasons but I didn't feel my age at all. Was extremely surprised. People talked to me, shared and ask questions, showed nothing but respect. Thank you everyone! Best luck to all:

What an experience!

The wife and I, 37 and 42 (she’s old) got a private room.  Very impressed! 
Clean with air condition. Very comforting.  The staff was always helpful and cool and nice. 

The younger crowd was always having a blast and mingling with a each other. If you’re wanting to experience a real life hostel experience, then here u go! 

They also made pizzas, cocktails classes, yoga , etc always cool stuff going on.

Real hostel experience!

I have a great time staying over here. The stay was fantastic and there are privacy in the 8-men dormitory as each bed have a curtain to cover from all angle. There was a swimming pool but I didn’t use it as I was spending more time exploring. I also saw them conducting yoga and salsa dance (I think). Yesmin the font desk receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly. Location is also great and price was really cheap in my opinion. If this is not the best hostal in Merida, I am not sure what is. Highly recommended.

Most hip hostal in Merida

I stayed at Nomadas Hostel for 4 nights from March 3-7, 2020 as a solo traveler in the 8 bed female dorm. 

The dorm was comfortable and simple and had 4 metal bunks. The bottom bunks were all double beds and I lucked out with that! Each person had their own medium sized locker (locks were provided). The door to the dorm did not have a lock on it and I would have felt a little more secure if it had. Each bed had an outlet and reading lamp, but no privacy curtains. The other women in my dorm were all respectful and quiet, so no issues there, and I had a good sleep. The dorm had two washrooms just outside the room and there were showers in the larger female dorm next door and in a separate building near the pool as well. The showers in the large female dorm were clean and had consistent hot water. 

The hostel property was nice and there was an outdoor lounge area behind the reception building with tables and chairs, and some seating inside the reception area. The Wi-Fi worked well throughout the property and there were multiple networks to connect to for different areas. The hostel also had a guest kitchen to cook your own food and a games room/lounge. There were different activities every day of the week with lots of opportunities to try new things or meet other people. There was salsa every evening, yoga classes in the mornings, cooking classes, and live trova music in the evenings. The salsa was really fun and yoga was relaxing. I also enjoyed the live music. 

The best part about this hostel though was the amazing outdoor pool! Merida is super HOT and it was so nice to go for a refreshing swim after a day of exploring in the heat. There were wooden lounge chairs (not the comfiest, but if you lay your towel on them, it's a little better) around the pool and hammocks hanging over the shallow end. I enjoyed relaxing here and it was very peaceful and lovely, with the pool being surrounded by lush jungle plants. It was like an oasis and it definitely didn't feel like you were in the middle of a bustling city. 

There was complimentary breakfast starting at 7 am which included fresh fruit (usually bananas and various others), eggs, beans, coffee/tea, and cereal. It was basic but good enough for me. 

The location of the hostel was on a fairly busy street about 6 blocks north of the main plaza/park. It was about a 10-15 minute walk to the central area of Merida. The city overall was very easy to walk around and all of the main attractions are in the central area. Merida was a lovely city to explore and it was a great base for visiting ruins and cenotes in the surrounding area. There are lots of amazing day trips to take and the hostel provides an informational sheet with all the different things you can do and see. 

I have stayed at this hostel once in 2015 and enjoyed it so much that I returned again during this trip. Loved my experience here again and would recommend for those looking for a budget-friendly, comfortable, clean and relaxed hostel.

Comfortable Hostel with a Beautiful Pool and Relaxed Atmosphere

Pool,  friendly and helpful staff, yoga and salsa lessons, location and all inclusive breakfast are all a A+.      Great place to meet lots of new people from all over.   Would definitely go back here.  Highly recommended!!

Best Hostel Ever!!

Lovely hostel, great location, good classes! Very friendly and helpful staff. Really close to the zocolo (10 min walk) and some nice restaurants and bars. Amazing swimming pool area and great classes on offer, I did the cooking class and made chicken fajitas.

Lovely hostel, great location, good classes

I have always thought of hostels as being for youthful backpackers. I am over 60 and was taking a Spanish language course in Merida, and decided to try the Nomadas Hostel... my first experience staying in a hostel. I loved it. It felt more communal compared to staying in a hotel or a B&B... people staying there were more open to meeting new people. I liked the fact that we did our own dishes after breakfast. I liked doing my laundry and hanging it on the line. I loved the cooking class in the evening. The pool is great, and so is the location. Was a little worried that it might be noisy at night, but after 10:30pm it was very peaceful. Room was very clean and comfortable (very simple but very adequate).

My first stay at a hostel... it was great.

This hostel is amazing, we stayed here for one night I slept in a all girls room and wow, huge beds, bathroom with showers and toilets in the bedroom, air-conditioning and personal lockers. What was really amazing was the friendly staff, they let us use the facilities and parking until late the next day even though we had checked out. If I'm ever in Merida again I will definitely stay with them.

Best hostel I've been to

Really didn’t know what to except from a hostel but really enjoyed my time here. They have a pretty good breakfast and help with booking tours. Also, the staff is super friendly and even one of the staff members recognized my wife and I at a bar and helped get us a seat. The pool was awesome also!

Awesome place

We really enjoyed our stay here. We had a private room on the first floor at the end of the block so it was really quiet which was great. Being a bit older we weren’t going there to party but wanted some atmosphere. Clean room and en-suite and good water pressure and temperature. Comfortable bed and clean linen. 
Our only negative was we were trying to find out about the tours and were told by the front desk it’d be posted on the WhatsApp group. A number of hours later still nothing so I posted asking for them. No reply. We knew we had to book on by 8pm for the next day and so went back to the desk at 7.45pm, asked the woman who was notified that we hadn’t been told, gave us all the information and got us booked on. She then posted on the group WhatsApp so others knew. So I guess it depends on who’s working to how this part goes. 
After the tour which was very good, we ended up having a few beers and joining in the free salsa class - very good teacher. And then Sarah (from Spain) who is working there was so friendly and chatty and encouraged us to have drinks and we got chatting to other people and ended up joining the drinking games and pub crawl and had a fab night out! Such a great fun group and atmosphere and comfortable room to die in the next morning after too many drinks!! 😄
