Loved everything about my 7-night stay at the Melville. It's been a dream of mine to stay here and I'm so glad I did. Suite 18 aka Juan Ocon suite, was huge, comfortable and tastefully renovated while maintaining its historic past. The kitchen was perfect for preparing light breakfasts. The king bed was comfortable and hubby and I slept well, even during Carnaval, thanks to our foam earplugs. The staff was friendly and helpful, and our suite was cleaned daily by one of the happiest people we've ever seen. The second-floor deck overlooking a courtyard was perfect for our afternoon siestas. We loved all the plants and flowering bougainvilleas, which attracted a riot of bird tweets at dawn and dusk. The location in Centro Historico was fantastic - so close to Plaza Machada and the Malecon. It was so thoughtful of the hotel to provide a 19-litre jug of drinking water for our suite. Wish we had booked a longer stay. Highly recommend.
