1) Walk in is cheaper RM 17± compared to online price RM 30±.
2) Only blanket is provided. Cozy room. No towels is provided so bring your own. 
3) Comfy capsule hotel with fast WiFi.
4) The receptionist isn't aware about traveloka on site payment. Almost paid twice.
5) Toilet is too small but squeeky clean.
6) Bathroom has water pressure problem.

A prior traveler left a poor review of the tour to the Mount KK lookout, Botanical Garden, Hot Spring and Canopy trip.
  
Although I can’t speak to what it is like to stay at this hostel, I thought I would shAre my experience of booking a tour through this hostel.

I booked at around 7 pm. The man at the reception desk was busy playing a video game on his phone. I had to wait for him to finish his game. (Not a long wait, but this doesn’t make  you feel valued.)

He was then very friendly and was happy to book my trip for RM 170.

He gave me a pick up time at my hotel for the next morning. Ten minutes after that time there was still no pick up. I called the Bunk but no one answered the phone. This was at 7:30 am.  I kept getting a recording that no one could be reached. Fortunately, I kept trying and a man answered and promised to get back to me once I explained my problem. A very pleasant and apologetic lady then called to tell me my pick up would arrive at 7:50 instead of 7:20.

I’m not sure if the man who took my booking forgot to advise the tour operator and the lady found another company to take me.  I had been told Green Tours would take me. Instead Only in Borneo (OIB) showed up.

They were fantastic! Both driver and guide in uniforms. The driver was a safe and excellent driver. The guide spoke good English and was very knowledgeable about botany so we had an informative Botanical Garden Tour, which is one of the best things about the tour. Yes the souvenir stalls at the Mt. KK viewpoint are tacky and it is often cloudy during the rainy season; yes the hot springs are not a very “natural” experience; but the Canopy Walk is great and you also get a chance to see the very rare Rafflesia flower. The trip involves  5-6 hours driving. The lunch had plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit and was tasty.

I was very happy with my tour despite the slight timing mishap. 



Didn’t Stay Here But Booked A Tour

I’ve really enjoyed the few nights I’ve spent at this hostel. Mostly due to the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. For the price, this place is unbeatable in value. Great location and cool atmosphere.

Great value, better staff

In the Hostel everything was broken. As I arrived they tried to fix the AC. Because of that the floor was very wet and so was my bed underneath it. Also i couldnt use the toilet because they fixed the other Ac in the bathroom. When I wanted to take a shower, 1 of the only 2 showers were broken too, so I had to wait for a long time for the other shower to become free. 
We booked a tour to the national park Kinabalu. The woman on the reception told us about the tour that we were about to go hiking, go to the botanical garden and the hot springs.
After the driver picked us up we drove 2 hours to the botanical garden where we only walked quickly through the garden with some information about the plants. 
After another 1 hour drive we arrived at a spot where we had the chance to see one rafflesia flower. We needed to pay for this 30 rm extra. After another bus ride we came to the kinabalupark with a canopy bridge and (not natural) hot springs where we could spend 2 hours. 
For this program you don’t need a tourguide at all! Rather rent a car and do this on your own! We payed 190 rm for this what isn’t worth it at all. 

Don’t book the tours! 

Would recommend for solo travelers on a budget and a short stay apart from the surrounding noise of the bars next door and the bass thumping through the walls whilst you’re trying to get to sleep everything else is okay!

The hostel is alright. It’s like a big room with a lot of beds inside haha this place is chill and the price is reasonable!! The toilet isn’t really great but at least you can take a shower lol the location is perfect. We arrived the hostel at 2am and you can still find restaurants nearby. Only stayed for a night so I didn’t have lots of comment but price and location are attractive!!

I have stayed in many hostels around the world, so this hostel comes up as just ok.Nothing really impressive, nothing really horrible to complain about. However, i don't think it is suitable for someone without hostel experience to try it out for the 1st time.

Barely Ok hostel, but in a very good location.

I think this was one of the cheapest places including breakfast while I stayed in Malaysia. I was not expecting too much, but I have to say it was a great stay. nothing to complain. the bed was comfortable. it seems like packed with beds, but you don't get the feeling that so many people stay in the dorm. the staff was nice and helpful and always fun.

Perfectly awesome backpackers hotel. Good facilities and accomodation. Room very clean. Strategic place but have to put larger signboard. Air-conditioned very cold. Bathroom very clean and lastly they have awesome receptionist!

Convenient hotel room

I only stayed for 1 night. I was worried because I read some reviews that talked about bed bugs. I didn't experience that but I was only there one night. The guy that runs it was super nice and helpful in giving recommendations. The location was great as well.
