Port View Hotel

Although the hotel rooms do need updating for the price that is charged and the location we where VERY happy with the hotel. Air-con worked well the room was clean and comfortable. We had a room with a window over the road you could hear beeping from the cars but that's completely normal for Beirut center. We had an excellent 4 nights and walked to down down easily from the hotel. Located in a good place for eating, drinking and shopping too. Easy to catch a taxi from ... shared service taxis run outside and are only just over a dollar per person .... red number plates and they beep at you :-)

Good Location, friendly and helpful staff

Super friendly staff, perfect location, but the bar at the base of the Port View building - currently called "Plan B 18" - make this hotel a place to avoid. 

Almost weekly, a violent, loud street fight breaks out at this bar and spills out to the street - drawing crowds of dozens armed with broken bottles, fists, rocks and shouting words in Arabic/English/French that would make a sailor blush. 

90% of the time, the cause is drunk guys fighting over a woman - and all their mates join in. Last night, the street brawl started at about 3am, and lasted - no joke - about 20 minutes. Why Plan B 18 doesn't hire appropriate security is mind boggling, given the frequency of the fights. 

*** Why Port View hotel doesn't hire better security to protect its guests is more troubling, as there is no way to enter/exit the hotel without passing through the fight zone.*** 

That there doesn't appear to be a police presence to stop the regular incidents of violence at the base of the Port View hotel, should make you think twice before considering booking here. Angry crowds can turn on you in a heartbeat.

Lebanon is a wonderful, vibrant country - Beirut, its thriving heartbeat. But staying at Port View exposes you to some of the worst Lebanon has on offer. Until Port View Hotel sorts this mess out, you will likely be more safe and sound staying elsewhere. :-(

Staying at Port View can literally find you in the middle of a violent Lebanese Street Fight.

The Port View is a centrally located hotel in Beirut where you can walk or grab a taxi to most relevant places. While the rooms are a bit old and the breakfast isn't great, especially for the prices, the hotel overall is clean and the owner and staff are very friendly and accommodating. And most importantly, the AC works! Additionally, the immediate neighborhood around the hotel is also quite fun (pubs, restaurants, cafes, etc.).

Not cheap, but not expensive - best point of Port View is the location

Located in one of the best streets in Beirut, Port View hotel offers a good slightly low-budget friendly kind of services. The hotel is right in front the Lebanon Electricity building which is well known to everyone in terms of riding a cab or a service car, it's a bit old but it's still functioning well. The staff is very friendly and can provide you with any info that you may need. Gemmayzeh street is the go to street for night life breathers, a plenty of choices of local pubs, bars including live shows and old arabic styled restaurants. Saifi hostel is near by and it provides arabic lessons for the languages lovers. All and all the location is the best plus of the place.

Location beats quality.

Sales, not polite, no service, dirty lines, line feels maivais, broken mattresses, WC dirty, cockroaches, moisisures, blood stain on the sheets ... 

It is a place that does not deserve to have a second! Refuses give the money back and accept their mistakes!

No way! There is for this price way better place....
