We travelled mid May for a trip around several cities in Japan. Family of 5, with one teenager who is in a wheelchair. Despite the fact that we did find it a little challenging on arrival in Japan, with lots of luggage and a wheelchair to push etc, we managed to make it to our hotel without much difficulty. Getting to the hotel from Narita airport was easy and just one stop away from Shinjuku station. Anyway, Okubo station and shin-okubo station are pretty much just a couple of minutes and a few minutes away respectively. The hotel is perfectly fine, and caters without issue for tourists etc. The reception staff were kind, polite and helpful, gave us a lot of info if required. We had a family suite on one of the top floors and the room was large enough for us all to move around, have some space, and to store luggage off to the side without it limiting any space. The rooms were clean and tidy and are well decorated, they are designed for more business style, so plain, but modern and comfortable. Decorated nicely but nothing overstated. For all the time we spend in the room, it doesn’t need to be this 5 star palacial room. It’s just need to be clean, smartly presented, and have the amenities needed. We never had any issues with WiFi etc. Worked fine for us. Beds were large and were comfortable, and the bathrooms and separate toilets were good. The toiletries supplied by the hotel were of EXCELLENT quality, so much so that we actually found where we could buy it and bring it home. The hotel don’t clean the rooms daily, but it wouldn’t be an issue if this was requested, but this is commonplace and almost standard now across the world, and rooms are only cleaned every 4 days. But most people don’t spend much time in rooms and not much mess to be made for what are mostly 3-4 day stays or if on business mostly 1-2 days. Absolutely not an issue for us. Fresh towels and a bag of toiletries and drinks for fridge were provided every day, and they collected the trash outside the room if you left it out. Elevators are quick and you never had to wait long for it. Took us only a few seconds or so to go around 12 floors. The local area has plenty of places to eat, most are Korean, Chinese etc, but there are loads of Japanese style foods on offer as well. There’s a few konbini markets dotted around every street, with 7-Eleven, Lawson and Family Mart nearby. There’s fresh fruit shops and a smaller Donki store down the street near okubo station as well as the usual European/American fare like McDonalds etc. There’s also a dominos pizza attached to the hotel building round the side. So if you are looking for something closer to home (don’t know why you would, but hey, not my choice) then you have more familiar options to you if you choose. It’s only a several minute walk to the middle of Shinjuku and Kabukicho, and there’s lots of shops and food places EVERYWHERE. But all in all, can’t fault the hotel, it’s located close to the train stations which had great links. The hotel is quiet and it accommodated everything we needed. I would maybe stay nearer Ueno if I came back again as it’s closer to things I want to do, but I wouldn’t have any problems coming back to this hotel again. If it is an option in future I would stay there again.
