The service is amazing, different breakfast meal served each day at 7:30am sharp, once you embrace the culture of sleeping on mattresses on the floor and using shared bathroom amenities, you really feel at home here. We will definitely stay here again!!!

We are a family of 3. We booked a room with breakfast and dinner thru Agoda. We arrived before noon and was able to check into our room. The room is roomy with tatami not western bed with shared washroom and bath. The house is well kept for its age and clean overall. The bath room is not big but does its job. Breakfast is 7:30am and dinner is 6pm. Ee bought lift ticket thru the host at discount (only cash). Walk to closest chair lift is about 12 mins and u do need to walk up hill. U will need to get on a lift and ski down to get to the gondola or u can take a shuttle. Shuttle stop is next to the closest lift. The food is very Japanese style so depends if you like it. Meals always come with fish and fruit like Apple and grape etc... If you want to try out tradition. I bought drinks from shop outside and I asked the host if she mind and she said no. My daughter doesn't eat seafood and the host made non seafood for her. There is no laundary in the house but there is one for 900 yen wash and dry all in one machine (4 mins walk). The heated water periodically didn't maintain the same temperature but it was minor. Overall I think this is a great value stay for its place. Thank you

Super nice and friendly host

Words cannot express how amazing our experience was at Apple Inn Takasaka and we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the friendly and charming hostess that made this possible.

We strongly recommend breakfast, and ESPECIALLY dinner at the Ryokan (even if its just once).
A fantastic array of small Japanese dishes that will tickle all your taste buds leaving feeling full, very satisfied and wanting more over the coming days.
Whilst there are a number of decent restaurants at Nozawa Onsen, the meal served here is out of this world and you will find yourself consuming the many fabulous dishes the Japanese culture has to offer. 

Other positives:
- The sleeping mats were more comfortable than we imagined and we were always well-rested by the next morning; 
- The hostess can arrange lift passes for you at discounted prices
- The hostess gave us a lift to the main bus stop that took us back to Iiyama station

Phenomenal!

We stayed there for a couple of days. Many say the place is clean but we found here pretty filthy. Linens were not cleaned and we had used linens when we got there. We had our ski gears delivered by Yamato (transporter) and had them shipped out back to home one the day we left. We asked the house master specifically to organize the shipment and she gave us her word but it was not delivered the day we asked. We had to call them to check our gears, the house master just told us she could not reach the transporter but we wonder how it could happen. Our gears were left in a cold and damply ski room for 4 days. When we got the gears back, my ski was rusted badly and I have to sharpen them!! If we knew the delivery will be delayed whatever the reason was, we would have just brought them back with us so we would not have had to sharpen them. We enjoyed Nozawa onsen snow resort but we will not ever stay here again.

Be careful!!!!!

4 of us stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is nice, the bathrooms are shared, but were kept clean. There is an onsen just down the road. The ski fields were a bit of a walk away, but nothing major. It was also a bit of a walk to get to the main street. The room was very spacious and clean. They gave us an apple upon check-in, it was the best apple we have ever eaten!
My only complaints are that it is cash only and the bunk beds in the room are a little short. I'm 168cm, and I couldn't stretch out, but it didn't cause too much discomfort.

Good value

We stayed here for 5 nights over the snow period and it was a very traditional stay. The lady owner was very caring and hospitable considering that not many westerners stay in this hotel. She drove us to the bus and the snow stations and also hmgave us snacks for our day trips. Rooms are clean and neat. Bathing area in the hotel is very nice also. Priced well.

If you want something away from other westerners and more traditional, then consider staying here.
